What's curious about this, though, is that recent comments out of EA seemed to suggest they had no idea when the MotionPlus would be released. David Tinson, director of public relations for EA Sports, told MTV Multiplayer that "[Grand Slam Tennis and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10] will ship with the functionality, regardless of when [Wii MotionPlus] comes to market," meaning EA was ready for the possibility that the game could be released before the MotionPlus hits retail.

Confusion over the release of the MotionPlus was spurred by what seems to be a delay for Wii Sports Resort. Nintendo originally revealed the MotionPlus would launch as a bundle with Wii Sports Resort in spring, but the game's release date was changed to a vague "2009" on Nintendo's press site. At least we now have some indication that the add-on will be out before mid-June, but hopefully Nintendo will soon give out the full details and put an end to all this speculation."

Well after reading through the article you just posted, it's obvious that what was said in the interview in Nintendo Power was wrong.

So in the end, what do we gain from this? It's basically back to the "sometime in 2009" figure, right?

well, doesn't the conduit support WM+. If so, we can guess it will launch within a week or two of that date (either way) just like with We Ski and Wii Fit.
