HD-gaming finally making its mark in japan? impressive numbers for ps3.. 360 seems to hold its ground pretty well too.. wii seems to be slowly losing its touch.. SO4 drop off is huge but not unexpected... the 360 userbase is too small to ensure anything above 250-300k sales.

overall yakuza did brilliant.. sega software is finally kicking ass.. M&S, unleashed, yakuza.. all selling well.. hopefully they wont have a net loss this quarter

5 THINGS I'd like to see before i knock out:

a. a AAA 3D sonic title

b. a nintendo developed game that has a "M rating"

c. redesgined PS controller

d. SEGA back in the console business

e. M$ out of the OS business

Should the trend keep and Wii will sell around 1.1m on Japan this year, most likely being outsold by the HD twins and even by PS3 alone, if it keeps the pace through the year and FFXIII releases this holidays.

 

After Resident Evil 5 next week there's NOTHING for the HD twins that appeals in Japan. So although PS3 has a very good week it will very likely go below 10k very soon. 360 obviously as well.

Musou Orochi Z comes out on PS3 the week after RE5.

Plus, Pro Baseball Spirits should release soon and we have DW6: Empires.

I wonder if we'll see a bump in Valkyrias sales next week for the cheap edition releases in japan today/tomorrow.

Wii is getting rocked. But in a market such as Japan, and it being the only one not having a big game releasing in the last few weeks I guess it should be sort of expected.

My problem is, Is Nintendo content with this steady downfall? I mean they need to do something. I mean MS and Sony will fall again or they'll stay about even but still Ninty shouldn't be content with sales on par with the competition in Japan.

Anyways good sales for Yakuza on PS3 along with great hardware push. 360 drops both in HW and SW for SO4 but it was expected. Not a bad week as long as you weren't looking for something good with Wii.

Oh WOW WON MY BET YAY!

Japan is the one place on the planet (yes melodrama but getting a point accross) that software can seriously increase hardware sales, the small hardware sales make it much more apparent as well. After RE5 there is the FF twins and GT5 but nothing else for the PS3, a price cut in that one region would ensure 20k a week probably.

PS3, good god it's doing better. Nice software, and hardware. With RE5 coming soon, it should stay nice and high.

Wow at Star Ocean. Freefell 90 percent or so in one week. Looks like it might make it to 250k lifetime in JP if it is lucky. Another game that should have been multi-plat SE. I hope you learned your lesson and give the PS3 the ports.

SE probably won't learn their lesson but that's ok.  And yea Wii needs a lot of help.  First to go down with economic troubles is usually the top dog because it starts to lose the mainstream.  That's Wii's issue in Japan.  But even more so it needs some games to help boost it back up at least until it can get Monster Hunter or Wii Sports Resort out.  Or maybe Ninty should think of something more radical.

But I'm pretty angry that Ninty hasn't tried to do anything by now.  Obviously Wii is having issues and needs something drastic but they just let it continue.  Just because it's still gold in the rest of the world doesn't mean you let it divebomb there.  Ninty your better than that so do something.

Wii music was to be the "wii fit/ wii play" of this year

in japan it wasn't

everywhere else wii didn't need it
