Forums - Nintendo - Excitebots - Info/Boxart

So instead of big ass trucks and a realistic design/art style we get kid/soccer mom friendly machines that look like animals from a saturday morning kids show and instead of proper racing we know get to throw pies, play soccer and engage in the art of poker. This is such a casual sell-out. All nintendo needed to do was make Excite Truck 2. Just take the first, add wi-fi and sharpen up the graphics, maybe add some new modes or something and boom. You have a game for the core audience that would sell as well if not better than the first. Now Excitebots could well end up being a good game but this doesn't chnage the fact this is another slap in the face to core gamers from nintendo and the clearest evidence yet that for core gamers PS3/360/PC are where the funs at. This is just a huge sell-out.

You say tomato, I say tomato

"¡Viva la Ñ!"

What did people expect when its called excitebots? Fact is Nintendo make great games for all audiences, they are experienced at making kids games better than anyone else, they didn't sell many of the original.

Frankly i think its safe to assume that waiting for more info is a good thing but knowing its a MK clone isn't the worst news in the world, especially from Nintendo.

Another thing because its a quite release it might be like Disaster, too embarressing to publicly associate with the company, and if thats the case i will be pissed.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Seriously, what is this o_O I was expecting racing robots not crazy minigame pie throwing racing.  I hope the execusion is better then what I'm imagining.

I really like the designs on the cover to be honest. I have no problem with them trying to give the vehicles more character if it means it'll appeal to a wider audience (wider audience = more players online).

Bots and Pies are an utter outrage and a slap in the face to Nintendo fans who much prefer gokarts and turtle shells.

Can't wait to see some videos.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

The game does sounds a bit odd.. especially when the first one was quite a good racer with all the crazy stuff thrown in for good measure.

The best part was the use of mp3s.... now it may sound strange but if given a choice I would like ability of having my own soundtrack than online. But given the target audience of this release they might have removed that feature. And if that's the case it'll go from buy to rental for me.

WTH?! Were did this come from?? I wasn’t expecting any Nintendo games to be announced at this time….

Sounds fun though.

Except apparently the core gamers. The ones who stuck by the company and invested in thier products during N64/GC era when Sony & MS stole the show. The last core game was Disaster: Day of Crises which nintendo didn't even bother promoting or marketing and may not even see a US release. The last proper title was Super Smash Bros Brawl (Mario Kart is a 'bridge' title tbh, not really core or expanded but a happy medium, like Animal Crossing). Re-releasing GC games don't count because to core gamers thier old news and a further sign Nintendo would rather rerelease then attempt innovation or risk by doing any form of core game. Making games for a new 'expanded' audience is fine and good, but they're not the only audience. Nintendo seems to be forgetting that.

well they're making more and more money on the other side of the fence and they may never come back... sad but true.

NOA's attitude towards Disaster was truly shocking, giving more fuel to the fire that they don't really care about core games at all.
