As the great Miyamoto has told us, being a hardcore gamer is not based on how many zombie/aliens you get to slay with your machine gun in your favourite game (nor how much porn you watch) but rather the devotion you put into gaming. So a person who plays Wii Music for seven hours a day (God help his soul) is more hardcore than a person who only plays Halo games and plays for a like an hour a week. The one game that we can all agree definitely bridges the hardcore/casual groups is Mario Kart Wii. If there were not many casuals playing this game it would not be on its way to 30 million sales. Likewise, if there were no hardcores buying it (whatever that term means). It is also the game that can be enjoyed equally by the person who is totally rubbish and doesn't bother to learn how to play (and who hits me with a bullet bill after I've lapped him and causes me to lose) as well as by the person who devotes his time to becoming the best in the world in the game. This game is the ultimate test of whether you are a hardcore gamer. How does this game tell you if you are hardcore? If you can get an online rating of 9999 and 3 Stars to go with it of course. Well I am proud to say I became a hardcore gamer yesterday and joined an elite group of VGChartz hardcore gamers which as far as I am aware only consists of myself, Amp316, Rolstoppable and and Brawl 4 Life (sorry Larry Lion you just aren't good enough to join our elite group Anyway to all you casuals out there. I want to reassure you that you too can be hardcore. It won't be easy. I went as high as 9970 and then subsequently dropped to as low as 8600. You can't imagine how many times I nearly gave up. And believe me playing all the GPs on 50cc to try and get 3 Star ranking is incredibly tedious. But hang in there and one day you would also be a hardcore gamer.
