Looks like loads of fun... what kind of gametypes does it have ??? Deathmatch, Domination, Kapture the Falg...??? Or anything new ??? Does flying the jets feel as smooth as it looks ???

yea to all but the new part question.. i forget all the gametypes so cant answer that.
Actual PS3 Consoles are being used as the dedicated servers for Warhawk.

I am going to the store to pick this up today. How big is the download supposed to be?

The download is 800MBs give or take some.
I'd love to play all games directly from HDD... like on PC (sic!)

Zones is something kinda like terriotories on Halo 2, but its actually fun.
Also, the maps are so diverse and different that its ok if they have only 5 maps. Its well made. (as well as multiple variations of each map)

you can also lan a few PS3s and play Warhawk all from the one console that has Warhawk.

Have you seen the photo where like 80 PS3 are in a room and are used as dedicated servers?

Lets see how my memory serves me, I just got back from 5 back to back classes a little bit ago.
Gameplay modes,
-Deathmatch and Team deathmatch
-Dogfight (deathmatch or team deathmatch)
-Zones
-Capture the flag
There are also different sizes of each map. It's mainly to accodomate servers with a higher ping that couldn't support 32 players on a 32 sized map, but it's also crazy to play on a smaller map with 32 players as well. Smaller versions of the map will cause you to change your strategies a little bit more as the fighting will be closer and more intense.

Flying the Warhawk will take a little bit a practice to get used to. Mainly getting used to their hover mode (which is the only way you can leave the warhawk, people who don't know that get stuck and have no idea what to do) as well as their weapons, strengths, and weaknesses. There is the normal analog stick controls that boasts an auto-leveler that will level your ship back out if you take your finger off the analog stick and the other analog stick is the 'trick stick' (made that up) that will do rolls and flips for fancy flying. If that seems easy, you can change it to 'pro-flight' mode where there is no auto-leveler and you get full range on your flying, think like you're taking the training wheels off your bike. Lastly, there is the Sixaxis and while it will take a little bit to get used to, it has an advantage by how it free's up the analog stick so you can aim your crosshairs freely while you tilt the controller to fly. This comes at a trade off though because enabling motion sensing will enable it for the tanks and jeeps as well as warhawks.
