Forums - Microsoft - Lost Planet 2 Confirmed as Xbox360 Exclusive

This is piss poor reporting by these sites. They call a trailer appearing on XBL an announcement, then claim it states it is exclusive.

Quoted from Kotaku:

From the official statement: "Capcom, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced that Lost Planet 2 is being developed for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, following an exclusive announcement on Xbox LIVE that happened Monday, February 23."

I'm not saying that an announcement of Lost Planet 2 on other systems is not forthcoming, but as of right now, this is the best information we have, and not, just "piss poor reporting".

"Our earlier suspicions are correct — for the time being. Capcom today announces that upcoming action title Lost Planet 2 is being developed for the Xbox 360.

Read that again. Read it carefully.

The game is being developed using Capcom's own in-house development tools, the MT Framework 2. Capcom's MT Framework makes it possible for Capcom to create multi-platform titles like Devil May Cry 4, a title once thought to be a PS3 exclusive.

Timed exclusive anyone?"

not too terribly surprised im betting timed exclusive much like kotakus write up. sales of the port for the ps3 are abysmal

it makes me wonder if they had ported dead rising to the ps3 and it flopped would it have gotten dead rising ...

well good to hear the ps3 brethren are getting dead rising anyway its the better of the two games much better

Still poor logic on Capcom's part, IMO. I mean, all timed exclusivity does is ensure that the eventual PS3 version will have abysmal sales yet again... in exchange for moneys nao!!!, of course. But they're gimping the growth of their own franchise, and aren't they trying to make a theatrical release movie of this thing?

Well let the xbox-gamers play it first. If it's nothing better then the first Lost Planet the PS3-gamers won't have to waste any money on it. ;)

To people saying their waiting for Capcom to say something, well they already officially confirmed it and Famitsu magazine did as well. According to Famitsu the game is about 40 percent done and exsclusive to the 360.

I disagree. I don't think the staggered launch kills total sales, just one console's. I mean, if you launch both systems at once, it gives people the chance to opt for the PS3 version, true. But chances are they're just taking from the 360's sales. If only say 200k people that want it have ONLY a PS3, and the rest have both... they can just as easily slash the budget to focus on the 360 version, and make the same amount with less effort.

But then is there really a purpose in making a PS3 version later, as they did with the original Lost Planet? The whole idea behind going multiplatform, whether simultaneous or not, is that being on more platforms = more sales.

I am continuously glad to be a 360 owner:)

PREDICTIONS:
(Predicted on 5/31/11) END of 2011 Sales - Xbox 360 = 62M;  PS3 = 59M;  Wii = 97M

So this means that Lost Planet 2 will come to the Wii right?

But what happens if Lost Planet 2 is a full 360 exclusive? Dead Rising 1 is still 360 exclusive because the sales were good so MS and Capcom both agreed to keep it exclusive (some money were involved ) so Capcom received some money and MS kept DR1 exclusive and cashed in on the software side.

I`m betting things will be the same here(US loves shooters plus L4D is somehow similar to Dead Rising 2). MS will keep LP2 exclusive and enjoy a cash comeback from software sales.

My 2 cents

Likewise mate Xbox 360 FTW yet again. Continued support of the Xbox 360 by 3rd party devlopers years into the future isn't even in question. Xbox 360 cannot lose no matter how things go from here.
