Ok i have ratchet & clank and uncharted and I noticed that both games have a picture of a glob with a number 1 on it. This is located on the box on the hindge....what does this mean?

the world is split into different "Regions" when it comes to DVDs, video games, and the like. It's much like how VGChartz splits the world into three categories.

 whats the point of it though??

there really is no point to consumers as ps3 is region free, however to marketing and shipping it probably has some significance.

No point for video games except that if you have the US version of the game you can buy stuff for it on the US store, Ps3 games are region free

Doesn't really do anything, except in the case of region locked games like Metal Gear Online.
