Forums - Gaming - Gears and not God of War deserves the acronym GOW.

While this is the dumbest thread ever (Even if it's in jest).

GoW might be an acronym for Gears of War if you are currently about 11-12 years old and really don't have an experience with the God of War franchise. Otherwise, primarily GoW refers to God of War since it came out first and is also a well-regarded franchise.

And as for people saying 'sales' somehow reflect the quality of the series... Get a grip.

God of War Metacritic - 94
God of War II Metacritic - 93
Gears of War Metacritic - 94
Gears of War II metacritic - 93

Both are good franchises. But simply God of War came first. Gears is an appropriate name for Gears of War.

No, quality is more important than sales and God of War wins hands down.

Gears of War is like a turd next to the spectacle that is the God of War series.

Yes, because self-satisfaction through the gullibilty of others is much worse than actually being gullible. Simply because one doesn't get a joke doesn't mean they are necessarily a fanboy or that they take themselves more seriously than others who did not fall for the same joke (yes, yes I know, I'm taking myself seriously at the moment).

Admittedly, I fell for it, but didn't really care for the actual argument and got side-tracked in a comparison between the two game's storytelling elements. The kind of smug attitutude shown to every participant in this thread was completely unnecessary as a simple "Haha, you guys were fooled by Squillium, once again!" would have sufficed. No?
