Interesting new numbers - looks like PSP is VERY popular in a lot of Asian countries that VGChartz (unfortunately) can't track. These are likely VGChartz missing numbers.

Here are the official numbers from Sony (breakdown by region):

• SCEA: Approx. 18 million units
• SCEE: Approx. 16 million units
• SCEAsia: Approx. 4.5 million unit
• SCEJ: Approx. 11.5 million units

(The numbers include bundle packs released from 3rd party publishers) We do not disclose the breakdown by models.

• WW: approx 200 million (197 million)
• SCEJ: approx 36 million
• SCEA: approx 81 million
• SCEE: approx 76 million

Yeah, and SCEA appears to be undertracked.

However, and this is important, 4.5m numbers is huge, and it's the one numer VGC couldn't track - we had no idea PSP numbers were so huge in Asia, outside of Japan.

It's good we have official numbers now.

These numbers are astonishing - I knew PSP was very popular in places like Indonesia, China, Hong Kong...because of piracy, but I never thought the numbers would be that high.

I did read a couple of weeks ago that older, piratable models (1000,2000) are more expensive than the brand new model (3000) in some of these countries...

I wonder what the software numbers are for Asia.
