Forums - Sony - Killzone 2 will Be a Platform Moving Game Claims Sony

Isnt the pleasure in gaming about learning new control methods and having various gameplay features?

Remember the first time we all played Super Mario 64? Remember how difficult it was to control Mario in full 3-D for the first time ever? Instead of people complaining about it on the "internets" that the controls suck compared to 2-D versions, they took the time to learn the new gameplay mechanics. Pretty soon we all were doing double triple wall kickflips and backwards flippin' over Bowser. Or the first time you played Gears of War? Think how many times you were killed.

The same applies to KZ 2, it has a different control scheme. So just be patient, work with the game and learn its gameplay. Then in no time you will be popping off heads from great distances and hardly taking any damage.

Applies to RE 5 and its "sucky" controls. Just work with it and you will find it is excellent.

This is the beauty of gaming. Every game should control and play differently. I find it funny that people complain KZ 2 does nothing new but at the same time they complain about its different gameplay feel.

For gaming I want each and every game to have a different control set up and various gameplay. RE 5 does not need to control like CoD 4 because if every game controlled the same, gaming would be stale.

Please, please Sony, you know I like you, but stop this BS PR...

They will know Helgan belongs to Helghasts

Dangerous comment by Sony. But then thats PR for you. The game does deserve good sales. Bring it on.

lol if GTAIV and Metal Gear Solid 4 couldn't, theres no way Killzone 2 will

I hate to parrot but I think someone has mention this before but, I feel that it's the number of exclusive that will motivate someone to buy a console. KZ2 is just adding to a good list of exclusives. I don't think it will be no more a system seller then Sony thought that LBP would be a "game changer".

The Interweb is about overreaction, this is what makes it great!

...Imagine how boring the interweb would be if everyone thought logically?

In this hell shot economy, I'm not so sure but if so that would be great for Sony.

I believe it, i think KZ2 will sell quite a bit of PS3's.

I think Killzone 2 can be the game to move hardware with a thought like "This looks great. I just might have to pick up a PS3 for this game." But it's the hardware price that will deter the casual gamer and common consumer: "But to pay $400 for it? Hmmm..." Looking as the PS3's line up, $400 is certainly worth the price for the system for the games. But I don't think the typical casual gamer and common consumer is aware of that because they don't do the research as hardcore gamers would.

Hackers are poor nerds who don't wash.

Yes, the best realistic scenario for Sony is that KZ2 and other big games give sales some "bumps", letting Sony sell some more consoles at the current price before accepting the necessity of a price cut. It should be said too that particularly in EU, where the 399€ price, even once subtracted VAT, gives a larger profit margin than $399, while the official price is still unchanged, the real price has been already cut, and not only during sales, it's now possible to find bundles even at less than 360€ and base models at even lower prices on a regular basis:

PS3 has been on a slippery slope ever since November 17, 2006. It has never really gained traction in the market and is the only console to suffer a sales DECLINE last holiday season. With each new exclusive release, people claim the PS3 will be saved by software and those people suffer great disappointment again and again. Killzone 2 is pretty much it. If it does not sell stellar amounts and move PS3s with it -- the PS3 is pretty much done. Developers have already had to file bankruptcy due to high development costs are disappointing sales of PS3-exclusive games and if Killzone 2 does not sell AMAZINGLY, then we can pretty much count out Sony for this generation.

This.

Sony PR and PS3 fan boys predictions are always left disappointed and eating crow. They keep making  wrong predictions time and time again.

The recession is taking its toll on PS3 and Sony and they are losing more and more ground on its competition with every passing day PS3 is heavily outsold by Wii and it is outsold by XBox 360.

Kill Zone 2 is unlikely to have a long term impact on PS3 sales due to the PS3 having been out for around 2 years and a half Console exclusive games are unlikely impact on hardware sales in early stages of a consoles life within 2 years. PS3 has the high price of $400 hanging over its head that will keep future/potential buys away from PS3.

Kill Zone 2 will be mainly bought by people who already own a PS3. Kill Zone 2s impact on hardware sales will be minor in a way Gears of War 2 had an impact on XBox 360 sales.

PS3 price cut of $50 or $100 would make a much bigger impact on PS3 hardware sales than any exclusive game coming to PS3.
