Forums - Sony - I *really* hate the Playstation Store

I don't care about the speed or the content, I just hate the piss poor excuse for an interface.

You find the thing you want to download. You press "download". It downloads.

A dyslexic chimp could do that :P

Yeah, but the problem comes in where I want to download in the background and then check my progress.  That's the part that is terrible.

Without someone like SSJ12 specifically telling me to leave the PS Store and go to the XMB I would have never found that because it is in no way at all intuituve.  I know they tell me how to check when I download but I have always assumed they meant inside of the store and didn't even realize I have a network option in the XMB (I never really read the headings, I just look at the pictures).

In order to access the full benefits of the PS3 including the PS store you must first willingly give in to the darkside. The Sony gods feel your lack of faith and so they have deemed you unworthy. /sarcasm

But no seriously I have never had issues with downloads. Sometimes it may download a bit slower than usual but that's about it.

@ twesterm

Out of curiosity, how are you doing this when your last sign in was 19 days ago? O_o

Sounds like this was largely (i.e. completely) your fault, perhaps you shouldn't be so quick to anger next time. It also sounds like you're nitpicking incredibly small things that most people would ignore.

I have ultra fast download from psn, and I live in Norway. Stop complaining!!!

It takes about the same time to pull Active downloads on 360.

I tried to make a video but it just didn't turn out well, but here's what happened.

  1. I go to Playstation Store
  2. I try to download something (in this case, RE5 demo)
  3. I select download on the game description page
  4. I am brought to my download basket where I can see all my current downloads. From there I can choose my current download or continue shopping
  5. I select my current download to check my progress
  6. It starts the download over again and asks if I want to download in background (and I have to select yes otherwise I have to sit on that screen)
  7. I'm brought back to the at point #4

I'm sorry but that is fucking stupid. I read SSJ12's post (very helpful, thank you) and found where to check my download management because I've been aparently doing it wrong all this time. Why the Hell would I want to exit the store to check my progress and then enter again? Why the Hell can I just not do it there?

Also, why does it let me download something again and again and again and again and not tell me I'm downloading it again and again and again and again.

The Playstation Store has a shitty confusing interface and that's all there is to it. I fucking hate it. How they messed up something as simple as downloading something and then checking your progress is beyond me but they did it.

You know, I had that same prob a few weeks ago. I downloaded the Motorstorm Pacific Rift demo and the Haze demo - and a few others but had probs. I am used to adding multiple files to download.

At least the browser prob I had is resolved. It would be nice if there was a tutorial on downloading off PSN.

Not really - just hit the Xbox button and head to Active Downloads on the far-left tab. I had to redownload a lot of crap I had on my 20gb drive. It was pretty painless.

And all you have to do is press the Playstation button and head to download management under the network tab.

This is all pointless nitpicking, just download all the things you want to download, then when you leave the store you can check your progress, is it so important that you have to check your progress while you're still in the store?

Or are you just embarrased by how simple the solution was?
