Forums - Nintendo - No LAN for Conduit and release date Confirmed

i feel pretty nerdy setting up lan for consoles. You have to have your friends bring their consoles to the house that your gonna play, have multiple tv's ready and then set it all up. And then your probably in a different room no less, and don't really even matter. All I cared about was the other 3 people in my room. who cares about the other 12 I can't see. It's just like being online.

They would have designated times and days set up because you would have everyone get together and all because of all stuff needed and time set up.

On the other hand for splitscreen were hanging out with friend or two and decide hey lets play a game. Well looks like we can't play The Conduit no matter how amazing the game is. They would have to leave and come back with their own Wii's and tv if not more available, or stay at their house and play online with me. How is that fun?

*shrugs* most of my friends are PC/xbox360 gamers so the LAN ideas was pointless for me.

I wonder why the FPS that are in the Wii doesn't suppòrt splt-screen..do you think that it has something to do with the IR on the wii motes?

no because budokai tenkaichi 2 had splitscreen multiplayer or fighting whatever. And it used the IR so it isn't that

really? well then what is it? T_T I don't think that is the memory or the graphics. I mean, even the N64 had them!

I think it has something to do with the processing power of the wii rendering the graphics on two separate screens with one wii.

then they should have just downed the graphics a tad for the multiplayer splitscreen like halo 3 did

The no LAN isn't a very big deal for me, but I'm very disappointed that there is no split-screen. It's not a deal breaker, but it certainly is not helping.

nintendo wouldn't allow LAN play? that seems a little strange. If this is truly nintendo's doing, that's a pretty poor decision.

Most people wouldn't use it, but that's not the point. If this piece of news is to be believed, high voltage had it ready to go, and Nintendo forced them to cut it. Some of you are just spinning this saying it doesn't matter, because you wouldn't of used it. That's fine, but why defend the removal of a feature that some people would definitely enjoy? I know it's hard, but it's okay to admit that Nintendo is wrong once in a while.

We've known since the game was announced that they wouldn't be able to do splitscreen since they're pushing the tech so hard (and it apparently wouldn't scale down well). LAN was a possibility but frankly it's a niche that doesn't intersect very much with most of the Wii userbase anyway (it's mostly for college dorms).

Most of the time you see pubs pushing online over splitscreen because online requires every player to buy the game, while splitscreen only requires one copy of the game for four people. I don't think that's the case here, though, and you'll probably see it if we get a sequel.

That's kinda dissapointing.
