*spoilers*
That's kinda strange, I had the opposite reaction. When I had the last "boss fight" and it took exactly 5 seconds and one button press I was more then a little disapointed. The game just went on and the only really engaging thing to do was wait for rent to come in so I could buy more and more houses and become "king" for that achievement, which I did.
The game was really hard not to cheese too since once you unlocked a lv 4 spell every fight became more or less effortless, not that being immune to death wasn't effortless enough. I'm just glad I rented it instead of buying it on the PC at full price. I did almost all the side quests, and considering most of them were just repetitive mini games or run here kill 10 of these quests I was again pretty disappointed.
That's the second time I've been fooled, I expected Fable 1 to be good too and it was almost the exact same game minus the dog who was about 1/100th as cool as they said it would be at E3. Basically I agree with everything in http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/346-Fable-2 that review.
It didn't help that I rented it right after having finished Fallout 3. That is kind of like following the first awesome Ghostbusters movie with the not so great second. Maybe Ghostbusters 2 would have been ok on its own, but with the higher expectations placed on it by the first one it just looked like crap.
Fable 2 is probably still worth the rental, but its by no means anywhere near in the running for the best game of the last year or even in the top 10 unless you only count 360 games.
It's no Too Human but it sure isn't fallout 3.

Is fallout 3 that impressive? I've been hearing alot about it and I really want to try it... But because it's from beshesda, I am worried I won't like it. The same situation with me and oblivion. (Critically acclaimed, but I didn't care for it)
And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

It is so amazingly good that I had high expectations from the first 2 games which I loved and it exceeded every one of them. It is without a doubt the best RPG released in this console generation period, and by a HUGE margin. Even as a straight up FPS it would succeed, but adding in all the depth, the characters, the sheer number of locations (talking hundreds) the 50+ weapons and all the rest....its just amazing.
I cannot say enough good things about it, though I would recommend you get the vastly superior PC version over either the PS3 or the 360 version. It costs less, looks loads better and gets the same DLC as the 360 version.
It is not a hit or miss you might like it top tier game like GTA4 or Metal Gear Solid 4 were, it is a slam dunk if you like RPGs or FPS games at all.
Way better then oblivion, it has a lot more direction, better characters, higher quality content and much more engaging combat especially with the VATS system (slows time so you can target specific parts of enemies, shows very satisfying executions as you blow the head off a mutant with your shotgun in slow mo). Its just so great, I'm going to go play it again now that I'm thinking about it.

I have a couple of things that I have to say about the game that still bug me. What was with the "final boss battle"????? That was ridiculously bad. It was a horrible ending to a game. I liked how they added more stuff to do at the end of the game, but really... no final boss battle? It builds up, he kills your dog, and then nothing? I'm so pumped to kill the guy, and they give me nothing? Huge disappointment! :( Also, I dont like how the started the game. At first it was nice to just bring you into the game, but overall, if they smoothed it out more, and made it last longer, you would have been able to get into the game more.

Actually, the incredibly unusual ending is what made it so great. I played pure good the whole way through and chose sacrifice and the ending to that game will always stick out in my mind as one of the greatest video game ending of all time.
Just curious, did you kill the guy or did the pirate guy kill the guy?
See? Now I had the total opposite reaction. I started playing Fallout 3 and thought it was ok - LOVED Oblivion - but just can't get overly enthused about Fallout.
Then i put in Fable, and I loved it. I want to spend time in Albion. I hate the bleak wastleands of Fallout. So much more variety and just joy in Fable than in Fallout. I find Fallout VERY repetitive, and without the charm and color and richness I find in the Elder Scrolls games.
There is cleverness and definite improvements on the formula for Fallout over Oblivion, but it's just so grey and bleak and monotone to me.
Fable 2 was my personal Game of the Year. Fallout 3 was about 8th or 9th. Both good games, but Fable reached me in a different way.
yeh i enjoyed fable 1 a lot more i am sad to say :/
Blacksmithing was tha s*** in this one tho... i was rich b4 the game got even started lol
Alot of people complain about the ending for the game, the ending actually touched me. I felt that there was no need for lucien to be a final boss as he was a elderly man at the end of the game to begin with, even if he was a final boss. He wouldn't be much of a fight to begin with.
However, if someone wants some brain candy about fable 2, espically if you beaten it. I'll tell you who I think the true villian of the story is. Highlight the next area to read.
The true villian of Fable 2 is not Lucien, he is merely a puppet. Theresa was the one pulling the strings from the very beginning. She was the one who convinced you to buy the music box in the first place. Most likely with the knowledge that lucien was looking for the three from the beginning (Lucien's Diary, Page 17). A curious question one must ask is how did Lucien discover you bought the music box? The merchant nor, anyone in the audience did not have knowledge of the music box's magical abilities, and lucien picked up on the knowledge that not only you bought the box. But it was magical.
Why did your wish at the beginning of the game never happened? If rose wished to live in the castle, then obviously such a wish would have occured and you nor rose would have been shot by lucien. Lucien summoned you to the castle outside of the wish.
My theory behind these events is that theresa informed lucien that you had bought the music box in a effort to pitt the 4th hero, you. Who is destined to stop lucien agaist him, thus starting the chain of events.
The second villianous act that theresa performs occurs when you find hammer. When theresa learns of hammer's pacifistic vows. She mentions that you must find a way to get hammer to join the fight, very shortly after. Spire gaurds attacks and kill's hammer's father. Coindence?
Several more occurances like this occur though the game, but the biggest and most omnious occurance happens after the game. "You may leave... but the spire, is mine." What exactly does that mean? For that matter, why does the spire exist after granting your "wish". Theresa said from the very beginning that once a wish is made, the spire disappears. The first wish wiped out the entire world, so how come your wish was no where near as powerful?
My theory on this is that your wish was never made using the spire, but instead the music box. Since the music box is explained more in the book "The Relic" its very possible that theresa tricked you into using the music box wish instead of the spire wish. So that she may take over the spire.
So who is theresa? This is obviously not the theresa we know from fable 1. But I know one thing for sure. She has villianous intentions.
