See? Now I had the total opposite reaction. I started playing Fallout 3 and thought it was ok - LOVED Oblivion - but just can't get overly enthused about Fallout.
Then i put in Fable, and I loved it. I want to spend time in Albion. I hate the bleak wastleands of Fallout. So much more variety and just joy in Fable than in Fallout. I find Fallout VERY repetitive, and without the charm and color and richness I find in the Elder Scrolls games.
There is cleverness and definite improvements on the formula for Fallout over Oblivion, but it's just so grey and bleak and monotone to me.
Fable 2 was my personal Game of the Year. Fallout 3 was about 8th or 9th. Both good games, but Fable reached me in a different way.
