That's kinda strange, I had the opposite reaction. When I had the last "boss fight" and it took exactly 5 seconds and one button press I was more then a little disapointed. The game just went on and the only really engaging thing to do was wait for rent to come in so I could buy more and more houses and become "king" for that achievement, which I did.
The game was really hard not to cheese too since once you unlocked a lv 4 spell every fight became more or less effortless, not that being immune to death wasn't effortless enough. I'm just glad I rented it instead of buying it on the PC at full price. I did almost all the side quests, and considering most of them were just repetitive mini games or run here kill 10 of these quests I was again pretty disappointed.
That's the second time I've been fooled, I expected Fable 1 to be good too and it was almost the exact same game minus the dog who was about 1/100th as cool as they said it would be at E3. Basically I agree with everything in http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/346-Fable-2 that review.
It didn't help that I rented it right after having finished Fallout 3. That is kind of like following the first awesome Ghostbusters movie with the not so great second. Maybe Ghostbusters 2 would have been ok on its own, but with the higher expectations placed on it by the first one it just looked like crap.
Fable 2 is probably still worth the rental, but its by no means anywhere near in the running for the best game of the last year or even in the top 10 unless you only count 360 games.
It's no Too Human but it sure isn't fallout 3.
