@Sardauk
Praising for pretty much just the graphics? Sounds like how the hype went with Gears 2, but I didn't see everyone complaining about it then like they are now. This is same reason Alan Wake is currently being hyped, graphics alone, since we have like no gameplay.
As for not focusing on Multiplayer. The reviews for this game are saying nothing but great things about the multiplayer, in the Official Thread as well as the Clan thread everyone is pumped for the multiplayer. On this site alone MakingMusic476 has done more than enough to put the focus on the multiplayer.
iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.
Currently playing:
Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Best NPD month for a sony published game: 375k for R2
Sony published games that have entered the top-5 of any european chart : gt5p
KZ2 will be the first legitimate sony published hit and the last until gt5 launches .
| CGI-Quality said: @ Sardauk What so people should be down because of "no co-op" and such? lol...Despite it's lack of co-op, the game manages to STILL excite lots of people. I'd say that's a TRIPLE victory: for Sony, Guerrilla Games AND Playstation fans! Now again, why is this a bad thing? I think some people complaining of people overhyping their games are just looking for something to complain about. If it bothers YOU so much, then why bother entering the thread? How many times must we go through this? |
No, no don't get me wrong, their is no sarcasm in my post.
I said it will be a commercial success of course. My point is that the hype has been very high (possible the biggest hype for the last year and so), especially for the graphical side.
But so far I haven't read a lot about how cool some gaming elements are in it, some coop, some multiplayers, some achievements... only visuals.
And to get back to my post, to me, a successful sales is at 50% generated by gaming content... not graphical hype and the marketing campaign associated to it.
GOW 2 generated massive sales, same thing for HALO3, but I don't remember the same hype phenomena for the graphics.
IMO, It was more balanced between the blockbuster effect and the gaming content.
What do you think ? When I read your answer, it is a bit a "it is like that !"
Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

If you read some of the multiplayer impressions, they do praise the class system, mp gameplay, and the warzone mode. Many of our fellow VGC users have praised the gameplay in the mp beta. From the early reviews, the graphics are great and so is the gameplay. One of the truely innovative additions to the single player is the first person cover system. To my knowledge has not been done on any console yet.
Thanks for the input, Jeff.

well i'm on in the uk. But i am in denmark. And it was VERY advertised here. it had little big planet thingys in every store. Big ass card boards. Machines were also set up to play them. I expect the same for killzone 2. (atleast in some chains. Read Fona2000 (big store here in copenhagen, a offspring of Fona, a big chain. The store is huge. Has a area dedicated for each console, though the ps3 area is the biggest and the one with the most machines, not to mention the closest to the register) here people don't really care about age ratings.
Dunno why people are playing down the budget for this title, it's been in the works for how long now? 5 years? The game has been built from the ground up, including the engine so I would be VERY surprised if it was anything under $50mil. The amount of time required to put as much polish as this game has is expensive, very expensive.
It's not like it's a game like GeOW 1 & 2 which use an existing game engine and outsourced it's coding to China.

lol infamy. killzone came out in late 2004 5 years is impossible. killzone psp came out late 2006. 3 years is most likely(considering its early 2009 wich means they would have started 8 months before the psp version was done but id say no more than 3.5 years wich would mean they started development before the psp version was even halfway through). your saying developers blow through 10mil in a year too which is incredibly unlikely.
we aren't down playing but you certainly are over exaggerating
$10m per year would be pretty easy to burn through for a company their size.
Guerrilla Games has around 140 employees, that's only an average of $70k per year per employee which is a graduate level salary for 3D Artists. Receptionists would earn less, but project managers and execs would earn much more too which balances it out. Not to mention the other costs required in running a business, taxes, property leases, infrastructure, etc.
In fact their operating costs would most likely be double that of their total salary costs if going by most businesses.
