So even Nintendo is not recession proof. They just prepared for it a hell of a lot better than others did.

he problem was Japan according to this report.  That being the case, it's not so much the global recession we're familiar with talking about but Japan's own recession (which they've been in for a few years now) and their market trend away from consoles and towards portables.

1. What does Nintendo being affect by the recession have to do with where the problem lies?

2. Where did I write it was the global recession in my comment? It's still a recession.

Just providing context. The statement you made would lead people to believe they were affected by THE recession - as in global - , not just Japan's ongoing for the past decade recession. The Wii has never known Japan without the recession so to say the recession (even Japan's) was the cause for the decrease is invalid.

If you were clarifying it for others, you should have stated so at first.

And you should have stated it was Japan's recession.

Fair enough?

No, because I meant the global recession, which lead to Japan having this recession. You think the Yen just started losing profitable overseas value out of the blue? So you start nitpicking my comment based on what you think I mean without bothering to ask what I actually mean, and then blame me for that.

They need to be careful with the price of DSi. A high price can screw over a brand no matter how big it is.

Hrmm adding new techie features not related to gaming, upping the costs... sounds like PS3   PSP.

Still, they should do fine as long as they don't up it too much.

fixed.

Atleast they aren't stupid.

Nintendo need all the money they can get so we can enjoy all the great games they make.

Hell Ninteno are the only ones I would buy a game from it was priced at 100$

Did you buy Wii Fit?

It cost $90 but it's almost the price.

Stupid dollar

The DSi is going to be sold out the first few months no matter how much it costs. Nintendo are probably kicking themselves in the butt for not initially charging $300 for the Wii, and they are not going to make the same mistake as with the DSi.
Plus, the DSi provides the perfect test of whether two distinct consoles can coexist. Wii HD anyone?

No, I didn't clarify what I thought you meant, I clarified your inaccurate statement.   Japan is in a recession of its own.  Has been for over a decade.  Home console sales have been falling for a long time.  The rising Yen has nothing to do with lower sales IN Japan.  As stated by Nintendo, the reduced unit sales projection is solely based on lower end of year sales in Japan.

Well don't treat me like I'm stupid for not knowing that. I try to be courteous if people are simply being misinformed (when they are being jerks with their misinformation that I unfortunately tend to get rude back).
