Forums - Nintendo - Are Wii Shortages finally over?

Well at least till next christmas that is.

I am starting to see Wii's everywhere now, and at this moment, both Wii Fit and the Wii are in stock on Amazon, which i do not think has ever happened before.

I also don't see Nintendo selling 600,000 units a week on average in the next 6 months especially in the current global economy, so does this mean that shortages are finally over?

I don't think they are entirely over, but it's massively better than last year. I think the shortages will be really gone at around april or so.

still sold out by me as of last weekend. and remember, nintendo isn't going to sell 600,000 units a week over this period because they are going to start stock piling for next holiday.

They're still not perfect but you won't have to camp out to find one anymore :)

I see you're from the UK. The shortages have been mostly in NA the last year or so, the stock situation in Japan is abundant and the EU region has been quite stable for some time now.
The Others region I'm unsure about, but it seems that the Others total lifetime sales of any console or game is less than impresive at any rate (compared to number of people living there, many here actually thought China and India would buy massive amounts of consoles for some reason).

Huh? Why should it sell that much each week? You have to remember that Nintendo needs to stockpile consoles for Christmas.

In Thailand Wii[US] still hard to find ,mostly's JP version.(And for someone that really need it ,they'll mod JP to US.)

While Play Asia still Back ordered.

Europe is the best supplied region due to strong euro... Also, I believe stock has been good in the UK since last spring (except for CMAS)

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Still sold out around me. In various game stores I see signs that say 'Wii OUT OF STOCK'

Well, maybe i spoke to soon. After 24 hours of being in stock at Amazon, the Wii is now once again sold out.
