Forums - Sales Discussion - Will SONY follow?

They're losing too much money as it is. Not trying to flame or anything, but I think Sony would have a hard time either way.

I don't know, another thread (I believe) had a link that said that the PS3 could be costing much less than the supposed $800 at launch production price tag at launch.

Back to the topic at hand, guys.

1. Sony won't make another price cut until early next year when the big games start rolling out. It would be unwise (and look like an act of desperation to their investors) if they made two large pricecuts within the first year.

2. The PS3 is selling only 18% stronger than the 360. While this does mean Europe favors the PS3 over the 360, I wouldn't say that Sony "owns" Europe. Ignoring that the Wii is selling over triple as well as either the PS3 or 360.

When taking only the PS3 and 360 into consideration, the PS3 is selling at 54% of the combined sales, the 360 at 46%. 54% vs. 46% isn't "owning" anything.

PS3: 5.51m/51w, avg 108,039/w (up 239)
360: 12.93m/102w, avg 126,764/w (up 625), leads PS3 by 7.42m (up 70k), avg lead 18,725/w (up 386)
Wii: 13.52m/51w, avg 265,098/w (dn 1,102), leads PS3 by 8.01m (up 90k), avg lead 157,059/w (dn 1,341)

If 360 sales stabilize, PS3 sales increases needed to pass 360 by...
01/08: (008w) +875.8%, 04/08: (021w) +344.4%, 07/08: (034w) +219.3%, 10/08: (047w) +163.5%
01/09: (060w) +131.8%, 04/09: (073w) +111.4%, 07/09: (085w) +098.1%, 10/09: (099w) +086.7%
If Wii sales stabilize, PS3 sales increases needed to pass Wii by...
01/08: (008w) +1072.%, 04/08: (021w) +498.4%, 07/08: (034w) +363.4%, 10/08: (047w) +303.1%
01/09: (060w) +269.0%, 04/09: (073w) +246.9%, 07/09: (085w) +232.6%, 10/09: (099w) +220.3%
If PS2 sales freeze, Wii sales increases needed to pass PS2 (as of Mar07, 108.4m) by...
2008: (008w) +4373.8%, 2009: (060w) +0496.5%, 2010: (112w) +0219.6%, 2011: (165w) +0116.9%
2012: (217w) +0064.9%, 2013: (269w) +0033.1%, 2014: (321w) +0011.5%, 2015: (376w) -0004.8%
At +0% it will pass it in 358w, the week ending September 19th, 2014, at an age of 409w (7y44w).
Current age of PS2: 7y37w.

Please, do me a favor and show me EXACTLY where he referred specifically to the 360...

...and, if his only concern was about the 360, why even bash the Wii at all?!?!? Could it be because you're trolling??? You're not going to win this debate either, so maybe it's time to cut our losses?

It's obvious. Wii beat PS3 everywhere in Europe while he mentioned about France, UK and Germany only (countries where X360 beat PS3). After my remark he provides a chart with DS, Wii etc. - this is duck and cover. BTW even if we consider all this chart it's clear I'm right - Europe is Sony land - 50 million PS consoles while everything else is below 20...

Oh, so wait - before it's only 'real next-gen' systems that count (excluding the Wii, of course, 'cause that's not really 'next gen' in your eyes), but now we'll fall back to '50 million PS consoles' as an argument???

Yes, because you've asked me for it ! Please just quit. You now as good as me he was refering to X360. What's your point? Are you trying to scold me no matter what? Give me a favour and re-read this thread. Europa is a Sony land. Period. It won't change.

@ TalonMan

... My previous post looks pretty aggressive - don't get me wrong. No offence here. I have own reasons to respect you as a mod but in this particular case I really don't feel guilty... ok. I'm outa here.

ok you really have to show me where PS3 is beating any console in europe ????

ok they have been selling more the past couple weeks/months..... but that doesn't mean effing anything.... it could sell like that for a while it wouldn't catch up with the XB before a long long long long while....
people really have to stop jerking off on the last couple "good" weeks PS3 did.... until a real big STEADY change in the curve that means nothing... and even if it does it won't change anything before a while

The PS3 has had steady sales in Europe & Uk for Weeks. PS3 is selling faster than 360 is in Europe and it's showing in the way that PS3 is catching up/out sold 360 in some Euro countries in overall sales. Which puts 360 in last place in most Euro countries.

???? oh yeah show me ???? outselling the 360 by what 6000 at it's pick (without counting launch) in the past couple months is nowhere close to put the PS3 in first position with a constant pick at 6000 it would take something like 334 weeks to take over 360... or something like 6 years and a half counting from now.... and you call that being first ????

and in that number i have  australia (which is for 360 but by a couple hundreds usually) and other which is usually largely for PS3..... so PS3 is not even close to take over 360 in europe at that pace....
