How rich are you PS3 owners? You'd rather buy a $1000+ computer over a $199 console for the same games?

Umm Slicey. What are you using to type this message? Most people have a computer. And to have a computer with compatible graphics as a 360 does not cost much any more. But I do like how you used the arcade as an example though. Lets just add up the costs... 299 system, 150 for live for 3 years, 70 for wifi. $519. But you are right, A PC does cost more just your example was very biased.
Signalstar, wifi is not a big deal to you. But I don't have LAN in my living nor am I going to do so since my cable modem is connected to my wifi router. So if I don't have wifi I don't have internet on my console.

being "rich" has nothing to do with anything. It's as most people are saying here to do with individual preference.
e.g when I decided to buy the ps3 over the 360
The reasons that tipped me over were
the triangle square circle and X I've used these controls since the ps days there was no real reason to change them.
playstation was offering Gran Turismo 5, LBP, Valkyria Chronicles, Wipeout HD, Heavy Rain (at the time) Tekken 6 and FF13 oddly enough, these were the games I wanted to play and were not going to appear on a 360 so why would I buy a 360 when I knew these games weren't gonna be there?
PS3 has ps1 BC whilst the 360 doesn't (no really?!) eventhough I have a ps2 and to an extent a ps3 with ps2 BC would have cemented the deal but I can't have everything.
I already own a psp, psps and 3s work well together, a lot better than 360s and psps or maybe that's just my opinion.
I did not approve of how MS decided to randomly dump the original Xbox which got me thinking, "if the 360 fails for whatever reason, would they unceremoniously dump this as well?" IMO Sony is more likely to stick with a console than MS from what i've seen (feel free to disagree).
to a lesser extent there's also RROD from what I hear, YLOD is more infrequent than RROD so I opted to play it safe.
From that stand point the "$1000" (nicely inflatted figure there btw) is better than the "$199" console.
final note, cynically speaking the 360 is dirt cheap and has to as someone said in an earlier post effectively "bribe" some folks to favour their console, it doesn't sit well with me, maybe it's just me being paranoid but...
What is with the people who are hating in here?
Some of us chose to buy the PS3 as our primary/only HD console this generation. If the question had been if you would buy a 400$ PS3 with SingStar and Killzone 2, and I already owned a 360 I would quite likely also have said no.
Since I already own a console that will play the majority of HD games this generation, there is not a lot of reason for me to pick up a second HD console, unless it had a lot of games I was interested in.
And the reason I said 'quite likely not' to buying a PS3, is that I don't own a 360, and can of course not know how happy I would be with one.
If I owned a 360 and was offered a ps3 with k2 and singstar I would say no as I don't like shooters and glorified karaoke games ^_^

Are you telling me wifi is not a big deal for me? Because it really is everything in my house except for one PC runs on wifi. Yes it may harm my man soldiers but that is a risk I am willing to take.

Here's the thing: I will never pay for basic online play, so the x360 or any console that forces a paid online model is not something I'd want. I don't want to turn this into a pc vs. x360 crapfest, so i'll leave it at that.

Fuck no. I already had a 360 and had spent about $2500-3000 on it in 10 months before I bailed and sold it. Even though I don't need any more reasons beyond those which drove me to insanity, and to sell it, the fact that my gamertag/gamerscore is irretrievable and I'd have to start from scratch with a new tag, renders the possiblity of re-purchase to nothingness. Have a fun!

Dammit skillz, you gave these people a bad bundle!
Of course they was gonna say no. :/
Gears 2, Lips and 13 months of Xbox LIVE Gold for free - and a 60gb HD - for $325 is practically what the X360 costs today, especially if you're in Europe (where it's rufly $50 cheaper than in NA). And music games aren't hot on VGC.
While LBP, Uncharted and Resistance 2 with a 60GB PS3 for $349, is almost $150 cheaper than current price.
(^the bundle he offered us in the MS forum)
