Considering the 1 year headstart for XBox 360 I think the 2007 marketshares are more interesting. Using VGChartz numbers I get the following numbers:
Japan | 01/01/07 | 08/12/07 | 2007 YTD | Marketshare |
Wii | 973,468 | 3,386,497 | 2,413,029 | 75.5% |
Xbox 360 | 285,314 | 430,724 | 145,410 | 4.6% |
PS3 | 472,605 | 1,108,666 | 636,061 | 19.9% |
| | | | |
| | | | |
Americas | 12/31/06 | 08/11/07 | 2007 YTD | Marketshare |
Wii | 1,241,320 | 4,152,920 | 2,911,600 | 52.0% |
Xbox 360 | 5,083,263 | 6,694,892 | 1,611,629 | 28.8% |
PS3 | 746,653 | 1,818,498 | 1,071,845 | 19.2% |
| | | | |
Others | 01/01/07 | 08/12/07 | 2007 YTD | Marketshare |
Wii | 828,669 | 2,866,718 | 2,038,049 | 49.5% |
Xbox 360 | 2,451,543 | 3,309,265 | 857,722 | 20.8% |
PS3 | 14,136 | 1,233,862 | 1,219,726 | 29.6% |
I don't think this paints a very positive picture for XBox 360, although the percentages are still higher than the original XBox percentages.
Btw ioi, I see your Wii numbers for others are 828k for the end of 2006, while I'm pretty sure Nintendo reported only shipping 800k units to others until the end of 2006, so you might want to tweak those numbers a little.
