@psrock: Not sure who that was directed towards, but I certainly wasn't around in 2007. Why are you so upset that Z & W did well? Have you ever played it? Not sure what you have against it or why you feel the need to bash it. Are you really that bothered by the Haze comment someone made earlier? Oh well. I'm going to bed now. And remember, Capcom said it sold well.

it's over 700K and anything over 250K, especially on the Wi, is more then Likely a success. (except for the masssssssiive budget games like Monster Hunter Tri)
you do realise point & click adventures/puzzle games are not 'HARDCORE' blood and guts, shooters/epic big budget games, don't you?
And of course, the internet is the place everyone goes for all their gaming info.
If a game doesn't sell 1 million plus to a so called 'Hardcore' gamer, (the ones claiming it to be a failure, posting for it's support), then it's a failure????
How about asking a casual gamer/the people this game was targeted at, if 700K sales of one game is good or not???
Better yet, how about asking Capcom if their casual targeted, point and Click adventure game sold well? Oh wait a minute, we don't need to ask them cause they've already said so.
It's me... no really, it IS me!!!
If the ones who made the game were more than happy with Z&W sales, i don't think you have the right to say the contrary, it was a success for a niche title and Capcom made some money from it. Even if it happen a campaign, it doesn't matter, it made profit, a good game was saved from being a failure... and that thing happened.
Did YOU really think it could be a million seller[if that is your definition of being a success]? a Point & click adventure/puzzle game, a genre that was almost dead? If that was on PS3/X360...could it sold more than 200k? I really don't think so

Btw, there is a platnum selling thread about the wii in the front page. yeah, million selling games dont matter at all. And have nothing against the game, i would buy it. I love advanture games.

I doesn't bother me. I'm just trying to get my post count up and having this discussion with you is my way of doing it, while having some fun at the same time. And besides, my Wife is decorating the spare room with my mother-in-law so I need a comic relef. Sorry for being harsh on you Psrock. I don't mean to be. Sometimes I just can't help but have a good laugh at other peoples expense.

Here is a good case study to examine this question. Up to now Sega has produced just about 25 games for each console. Many are multiplatform versions of the same game. Now here is the result in terms of sales.
|
SEGA |
Games |
Mega |
Dbl. Plat. |
Platinum |
Gold |

Wii |

Xbox 360 |

The Wii has delivered 1 megahit (Mario & Sonic at the Olympics 6.71M), 1 Double Platinum (Sonic and Secret Rings) and 3 Platinum, (House of Dead 2&3, Sega Superstar Tennis and Sonic Unleashed), and 3 Gold; the Xbox has produced two Platinum (Sega Superstar Tennis (may go dbl. plat.) Sonic the Hedgehog), and 3 Gold; on the PS3 there have been 4 Gold, one more possible. So the Wii has unquestionably been the big money maker for Sega, especially considering lower production costs, and logically the console they will commit more resources to.

"NJ5", don't bother. groucho just wants to bash the Wii and will twists facts to pretend the advantages don't exist.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

I thought the opening thread's point was pretty simple. Or it could be that I'm pretty simple; But anyway what I understood of the thread was the tackle this idea that Wii doesn't sell third party software, which the poster then shows 25 games that not only sold well but all million sellers. I find these talking points of Wii doesn't sell this" "Or Wii only sells that" are created by their competitors like sega did back in the 90's with Nintendo being kiddy. It's all spin, created by Nintendo's competitors (yes they are all competing).
I mean when you think about it, Nintendo is the strongest software company in this business, they've shown that they can survive without thirdparty support, the other two competitors probably would NOT be able to do this, so in a sense, they NEED third party developers, and what better way to keep them than to make accusations that they wouldn't fare to well on that console or this console. That's how I see it.
But also, I don't understand where games like haze are brought up in this discussion, or any HD console third party game really, it seems a bit misplaced. But by all means continue it is entertaining, just stay away from the T word.
Lastly, I think brain slug made an excellent point.
Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:
If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.
If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.
