I doubt BioShock 2's ability to sell 4.5 million. Generally, same-console sequels without massive advertising budgets (like MGS, GT), sell less than the original. I'd predict around 2 million on 360, 1 million on PS3...you think the PC version can get 1.5 million? I suppose it could, but I would personally replace that with Killzone 2 with around the same number, maybe a little higher.

Oh, and GT5 won't sell below 9 million.

U mite be rite abot sequels in general selling worse, but actually I think Bioshock on the X360 underperformed considering the rufly 95% Gameranking score. It's at 2.2 mill isn't it?

And if Bioshock 2 has simultaneous release on PS3 it will sell well past 1 mill. Acoording to Shio Bioshok sold 1 mill on PCs, so the total at 4.5 mill for Bioshok 2 I think is very reasonable.

Why are u so sure about GT5 selling like the predecessors? I have a feeling racing games aren't as big as they used to be, plus the lower install base PS3 mite affect sales a bit too.

Absolutely right. Just look at these!

http://www.vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=6968&region=All
http://www.vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=1254&region=All

and Forza MotorSport sold an incredible 1.01 million in the West, while Forza 2 only did a paltry 4.32 million!

Racing is practically niche!

Oh, and the lower PS3 install base didn't affect DMC or MGS, why would it affect GT?

Is this list a joke?

Where are MadWorld, The Conduit, House of Dead: Overkill, Deadly Creatures, Arc Rise Fantasia or even Sonic and the Black Knight?

^How many of those are going to sell 2 million plus?

Does nobody read threads before posting?

just for the fun of it I updated the list. The biggest surprise move since last time was Killzone 2, which was 3rd when I made the list some time ago, has been knocked off completely from the Action Top10.

If you have suggestions, please let me hear it.

Halo 3: ODST is too low on that list, sorry.

The top 10 best selling games of those shio listed (excl Diablo3):

1. Wii Sports Resort - 25 million copies lifetime
2. The Sims 3 - 15 million copies
3. CoD: MW2 - 12 million copies
4. Starcraft 2 - 12 million
5. GrTurismo 5 - 7 million
6. FIFA 2010 - 7 million
7. Madden2010 - 6 million
8. Residnt Evil 5 - 5 million
9. Halo 3: OSDT - 5 million
10. Bioshock 2 - 4.5 million

This don't seem right though - where are all the Nintendo games and also there should be more multiplatform shooters n' stuff released in 2009 that could do 5 mill?

Modern Warfare 2 will sell more than 12 million units.

And by the way, the most anticipated game right now is Modern Warfare 2, followed by Diablo III and StarCraft II...

No Wii games?

Shio probably just thinks no Wii games can approach the top 10 list in any genre. He's never wrong you know. What's funny is that I can see so many of those genres being topped by a Wii game when all is said and done. Some of which will be topped by games from 2008 on the Wii!

I have nothing against the Wii, but I didn't think of any Wii game that would be in the top10 of any genre in terms of success. I might put that Final Final CC game from the Wii. I'm continuously changing the list and making it better, it's not really finalized.

Wait a minute.

Quake Live is more anticipated than Killzone 2? I am Alive is more anticipated than Uncharted 2?

I think you need to look at this: http://news.vgchartz.com/news.php?id=2722

I can see Quake Live have a massive success in every single continent, with dozens of millions of people playing the game every month. Think of it as the Runescape of Shooters, only with even more potential due to the fact that it's a Quake game and looks to be awesome in every way.

I am Alive is on 3 platforms, has an interesting premise, and being made by some of the people from Assassin's Creed including that chick Jade Raymond that seems to pull some attention to the games she develops by herself (which is kinda silly).

The list I'm making is purely based on the commercial success the games are expected. The anticipation comes from just that. subscription-based games are likely to be well positioned even if they don't sell as many copies as the other games, because they have the monthly payments in their favour

If it is commercial success and not "sales" you're gauging, then you need to realise that some games on that list have budgets so high that profiting will be touch and go.

Looking at you Killzone 2.

Of course if you just mean sales then carry on.

because Quake Live has a vastly different business model I can't compare it in the amount of copies sold, however I believe Quake Live will become the benchmark in F2P games and Professional gaming, and should no doubt make a huge profit.

^ ur just guessing shio. Have u any evidence?

I don't know anyobdy that is interested in Qauek Live.

And no one on VGC seems to give a rats about it either.
