I wouldn't dare buy a PS3 without PS2 compatibility, thats for sure, so if they add it back, it would definitely boost sales a bit, maybe at least by my "one," however I still wouldn't buy one if I felt that they were loosing support unless the cost was much lower. So basically, they NEED PS2 support, and they need to show consumers that either they will sustain 3rd party support following this disappointing holiday season or lower the price to warrant the then existing features of Blu-ray capabilities and PS2 compatibility.

Actually, demand or the PS3 is increasing while 3rd parties are stilll heavily supporting the PS3.  So now ya know...

for the moment, but history has shown that 3rd parties often sing a different tune during the first of a year in regards to the immediate past holiday sales.  Exclusives could become multiplatform or games could be canceled all together.  We'll just have to wait until summer to know for sure.  I'm not saying it will, but it could.

Of course anything can happen, but I'm focusing on facts right now.  According to last gen, all consoles continuously increased in demand.  As we also know, the PS2 was in the lead while continually increasing its lead.  Also, both the GC and Xbox were practically neck and neck when it comes to sales.  Both the PS2 and Xbox received the same support of games while the Xbox was still far behind the PS3.  Fastforward to know.  The current PS3 userbase has proven to be a viable source of income regardless of being in third.  3rd parties could abandon the PS3 to concentrate more on the 360 and Wii.  But stories like Take Two reporting that PS3 software sales earned them the most revenue and Tomb Raider sold the most on the PS3 are telling 3rd parties that PS3 user are buying their sofware.  As long as the PS3 increases in demand, I don't see it probable for thrid parties to abandon the PS3.  So you agree with me... thanks.

So, I'm *insert ad-hominem here* gotcha ;)

The line you paraphrased is a logical arguement. >_>

Lastly - mob mentality can be used as an excuse to free a group of people from a murder charge - it doesn't mean that murder is good, it just means that people are viewed as not within a self-controllable mental state when they commited to the act.

That means; "Just because everyone jumps off a bridge doesn't mean you have to also."

how many times we hear the year of sony ps3

if 2006,2007,2008 is not the year

at least 2009 is the year ps3 and sony as a whole still survives or not

look at 2008, when MGS4, LBP R2, megaton, but same story goes

I don't think they will, people are still buying the wii in their masses. I don't think sony have the widespread appeal anymore, which is a shame because the 'good game-bad game' ratio is far superior to the wiis. (even though the wii has several games which are better than anything on the PS3)

I hope the Ps3 gets a bit more recognition this year though.

i dont think sony will dominate in sales in 2009, but it certainly will in games.

from the 2009 previews ive seen so far, theres nothing on any other system that looks as good.

and lol @ certain fanboys seemingly giggling that 2008 was the so-called-year of ps3 blah blah blah, it may not have been in sales with economic downturn making purchasers opt for "lower" products, but as far as games go, ps3 owners were the most happy.

and looking into 2009 the best games are seemingly on ps3.

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

2008 ps3 had the better software, thats all that matters to you and me. i really dont know what your trying to propogate.

looking at 2009 previews the same is looking to be true again, the best games are looking  to be on ps3.

360 2009 lineup looks good but not as good as ps3`s lineup.

Yes, you are.

It is not a logical argument. Your logic is that there could only be two perspectives dealing in extremes. We either agree with his sentiments and like the PS3 -> better than => PC/360/Wii or we call out his contribute criteria. =/= logical argument.

There are many perspectives not just extreme prejudices. It's clear as day as to its intent.

I didn't skim through the pages of replies and look for similar comments to build up the courage to reiterate my own belief, which it so happens was actually shared by many others.

Can you please start debating the initial argument and not some "ad-hominem" arrogant philosophy that consists of "logical arguments" comprised of pre-ordained generalisations.

My logic is saying that by you argueing me that your admitting your wrong, just not as wrong as the OP.

That's all, my post is whatever you understand it to be at this point, but it's intent was just to point out an observation.

Prehaps you had me in some sort of predisposition and I've been trying to make it clear that I'm making an observation. ^_^

What preordained generalization? Your just using big words for the fun of it now. ;)

There was no generalization; an observation is hardly perordained... unless your accusing me of thinking I'm some sort of prophet. V_V

Oh and to revisit your first line of words in that last post, no that's your logic or how I understood your logic based on that example with the Lakers fan and the NBA... unless your saying that's not what you meant.

*sigh* Your pre-ordained generalisation is the fact that your logical analysis stems from pigeon-holing everyone into two extreme groups.

People can like the PC/360/Wii PS3. The same. And still not agree, AND still point out that making a criteria to censor opinions is to garner more support of your own without meaning that they "just hate the PS3".

I don't need you to tell me that I belong to a 'group' for making my own observations. Thankyou.

FYI I called out his criteria but then I agreed with him (under condition) where does that leave your "logical analysis"?

Didn't read all of the posts, but I believe the OP's "Note if you don't like Sony" warning had the complete opposite effect. Although it is expected here...

This will only take a moment of your time. *steals your watch*
