Forums - Sales - If HAZE was not a PS3 exclusive would free radical be in trouble today ?

If Haze was not a PS3 exclusive but was also out on the xbox 360, do you think free radical would be in the trouble it is in today? Haze was so hyped up (the Halo killer) and PS3 saviour, maybe free radical thought it sell 3 millions copies. Its not a flop (selling nearly 600k) but nearly bought down free radical as a company. My view is If HAZE was also available on the Xbow 360 and even the PC, it might of sold another million copies +. I played the demo but it wasn't a bad game, but I just don't play 1st person shooters on the Ps3 or xbox (apart from Left4dead that is) as I got a PC for that. Your thoughs ?

As it would cost more to develop on both platforms, it would have done even worse for FR

A bad game is a bad game no matter the console.

Proud Sony Rear Admiral

Let's see:

it was heavily advertised and debuted at fps starved platform yet it failed

Would it sale better if it didn't receive advertising support from Sony and the internet hype from exclusive status but go into other platforms with established mammoth FPS franchises ?

I think It would have bombed even harder.

The most annoying thing about Haze is that people always seem to blame the PS3 when it's Free Radical's fault for making such a terrible game. The game could have sold millions on the PS3 if it was good, and the fact that it even managed to sell 600k as a laughingstock of a game is nothing short of a miracle.

Shhh! Keep it down! There are people here who will get very angry if they hear you say that Haze was hyped.

Haze would have still been shit regardless of what platform(s) it was on

it would have sold better as multi-platform i have no doubt about that, but it's also not that good of a game. Free Radical failed to use the money efficiently and came out with a big budget game that doesn't deliver. Basically it would have bombed, just not as badly.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

I don't think it would ultimately mattered. Especially if Ubisoft insisted on a simultaneous release. The 360 version of the game would have most likely made it out by the holiday season otherwise, but it would have faced off against far superior games and likely failed.

The PS3 version would have likely had lower sales as the word would been out on the game from the 360 version's reviews. The total sales of the Haze between the two platforms probably wouldn't be much more than the PS3 only sales. I know didn't mention the PC version but if the 360 version got crushed due to superior competition the situation would have been even worse on the PC.

Absolutely. Crap is crap, crap doesn't sell multiple millions. It would have sold better on 360 than PS3, though. Maybe 0.5 million on 360, 0.4 million on PS3.

And I agree with MontanaHatchet, it's not the PS3's fault, it's the game's fault! Free Radical made a terrible game, and they're suffering for it, just like Factor 5 suffered because of Haze!

You know what's depressing? The fact that Haze has sold more LTD than Valkyria Chronicles. That is just wrong.

Just to reaffirm, Killzone 2 is NOT the next Haze. Jeez, out of some 40 semi-famous exclusives, TWO bomb in quality and sales, so therefore every single PS3 exclusive in the future is going to flop, "like LBP and R2" (both of which are million sellers and both of which will probably be 3 million sellers)

If it was also on PC then it would of sold better. Stranglehold wasn't very good either, but it managed to break a million with PC/360, so I do think sales would of been a little higher. But , overall, I'm not sure how much more helpful it could of been because "what if." If MGS4 it could of sold 15 million copies total: Is that statement true? No, because mgs4 never came out for 360, 'what ifs' mean nothing.
