Forums - Sales - Why does some people fear/hate the Wii?

Come on! Don't you all start playing the indifference card! Back in the previous generation I don't remember people hating the PS2, they rather respected the leading system. This generation is different: there is people that really hate/fear the Wii for some unclear reasons and that's what I will like to clear out!

This is a bit silly... are some of you saying that it is impossible not to like the wii? You call "hardcore" gamers arrogant.. and yet there is some incredible arrogance in here from wii fans.

I juist dont like it.. it is as simple as that.... the style of nintendo games has never really appealed to me if I am honest and it still doesnt, despite the interface.

What is so wrong with that.

The question was why do people fear / hate the Wii but you said Nintendo style of games don't appeal to you which is fair enough but the question was not why do you fear/ hate/ dislike Nintendo!

Ok so Nintendo games/ systems may never do it for you and I have friends like that but they certainly don't fear or hate the Wii or think it bringing about the end of all hardcore games.

Just because.

I don't know. Insecurities, teen angst, peer pressure, not owning a wii.

They'll grow out of it.

I love my Wii, but I must admit I am not excited about the 2009 library. I feel as though Nintendo is putting too much emphasis on games that don't appeal to me. The success of Wii Play, Wii Fit, and Wii Music are great for Nintendo, but not so great for me. The success of those titles, means Nintendo will move in a direction that is not compatible with my tastes.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

My daddy told me that Nintendo uses little boy's body parts as pieces to make new Wii's.

How do you think that they came up with the name Wii?

because the Wii becoming the "de facto" system that these gaming companies want to make means the end of the HD, exspansive quality in games that I love. In turn the Wii is a very bad thing for a Hardcore Gaming world.

Like kowenicki I really dont hate the Wii. I do worry that it is far to successful and will cause a crash because the quality of games for the Wii is in general below average.

Beyond that what really bothers me is the celebration for software title sales that really dont deserve it. Did people that celebrate WiiPlay sales also celebrate "Enter the Matrix" when it flew off the shelves.

Finally it is the Nintendo fans. As someone who lives in Chicago and is a White Sox fan it is similiar to our dislike of the Cubs, it isnt really the Cubs but the Cubs fans that bother us. Up until like 3-4 years ago the Cubs hadnt won 50% or more of thier games in back to back seasons in like 30 years while the White Sox had put in many winning seasons over that same time period. Neither had won a World Series until the White Sox did in 2005, yet the Cubs fans act like they root for the second coming because the fill Wrigley Field every game.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

Wrong. WWE games are dumbed down because the WWE has been dumbed down. It appeals more to children. Only a child could possibly find one of John Cena's jokes amusing.

I was referring to the show, not the games.

My fault. I didn't read that correctly. I stand by my John Cena statement.

I would have to agree with you but 2009 is looking better than 2008 in my opinion but sadly we will still see more of those type of games from Nintendo hence why the Wii really needs some kick ass 3rd party support!

The Wii is still yet to be Nintendo's best ever system (I loved SNES) in my opinion but after playing my 360 the most in 2008 the Wii is really getting some playtime at my house.

Now playing on Wii:  Tatsunoko Vs Capcom, Naruto Clash of Ninja Revolution 2 (I just got it) and COD: WaW.  Ironically the first two games I am using my Classic and Gamecube controllers respectively rather than the Wii Mote.

Now Playing on 360: COD:Waw

Now playing on PS3: Resistance 2

I am not only a Nintendo fan but I am also one of these idiotic Cubs fans. I don't understand Sox fans.  Their team won the World Series and they still bitch about us.  At Sox games they chant, "Cubs suck!" when they aren't even playing them.  We don't worry about the Sox.  We worry about teams in our own division like the Cardinals.  Teams that we actually play.
