Hope you enjoy it till the end.

Oww... Need some glasses me friend? =P

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

I'd agree with you here - Resistance felt like more of the same. Like Quake 1 with new weapons, or something... I kept thinking, "there's got to be something here that made people give this game such high reviews..." Unfortunately, I didn't find anything. It's no Gears of War, that's for sure.

Also, I'll have to warn you against playing R2. I got caught up in the hype (somehow thought it would be a completely different game, stupid me), but it isn't that different. If you dislike R1 as much as I do, stay away from the second. It shouldn't be a problem, there are many more interesting games on the console worth your time.

Actually, the only Insonniac games I've played are R1 / R2. I know should give R&C a go sometime...

It's funny you mention Quake because after going through their conversion plant, it's blatently obvious the Chimera are Strogg.

And actually, playing this game feels kind of like Quake...

Really? I never got a Quake feeling from it. Well, maybe a little.

I got more of a "AvP/Quake/Doom 2/Half-Life/late 90s LucasArts shooters/everything else I can think of" feeling from R:FoM.

All I got from it is "Damn, I've played this game a hundred times before". Maybe it's fresh to you guys who haven't played many shooters past Halo but it was damned stale to me.

Oh definitely.  If this game was released 10 years ago it would be the game everyone talks about and held as high as Half-Life but since it was released in 2007 it's just overly generic and been done before.

I actually love how they're telling the story like it's some History Channel special, I dig that, and now that I've remapped the controls I even like the controls a little better but the gameplay is just so cookie cutter and the world is just so bare with meh level design.  At the escape from conversion plant you wander through empty house after empty larger house and eventually end up in a very large empty *boring* warehouse before a so-so gun fight.

The game isn't bad I just don't get why people love it so much other than there was just nothing else when it was first released.

You took the words out of my mouth, but really I still can't get over the awkward controls... this game couldn't have gotten into the 8/10s of I was reviewing it...

Wait, you'd actually pick God of War over Shadow of the Colossus?

Oh, boy... That's like choosing Donnie Darko over Children of Men. That's just... wrong.

NOTHING beats God of War. Not Resistance, not R&C, not SotC, not Jak, not Uncharted.

1) Santa Monica
2) Team ICO
3) Insomniac (just about)
4) Naughty Dog

All are excellent, though.

They're all excellent developers, that I will agree.

I would classify Soviet Monica's studio more as a "Die Hard" type of studio. Fun to watch, but there's not enough there for me to really respect them. Fun stuff, but not exactly highbrow.

Actually, out of the four you listed, I would put them fourth. If I was allowed to add other Sony developers, they wouldn't even make the top five. It's not a slight on Soviet Monica, it's more of a testament as to how damned good Sony's first/second party development teams really are.

Since when are the GoW developers Communist?

I wasn't aware there were any other excellent Sony developers. Sure, Sucker Punch has made some good stuff, but I wouldn't put them in the same league as these four. I don't suppose you meant SCE Korea?

Yes, they exist. They make (made) EyeToy games.

I suppose Sucker Punch would come in fifth. Never played any of their games, though.

Or maybe Ready at Dawn should come in fifth, just because they're the only people who KNOW HOW TO MAKE A PSP GAME (Except Square Enix and Sony Bend, and those people who made Patapon, SCE Japan)

But Ready at Dawn made a God of War game, and GoW being my favourite series of all time, I'd rank them in fifth. Sucker Punch in sixth, Sony Bend in seventh. Guerilla Games could get up there if KZ2 is good enough.

I'm going to make a thread about this.

And when I first played it I wasn't all that impressed which was one reason I didn't pick up a PS3 to start off with, but today I decided to try out more of the game then just that snip giving it the benefit of the doubt... and it's worse then I remember... honestly I don't know if it's 2 years of MUCH better FPS console games coming out or that everything is sub-par with some things that are in N64 FPS games aren't in this game (like the option to toggle crouch instead of holding it), the controls aren't as fluid as I would like, the visuals... aren't good and I know it's a launch PS3 title yes, but this is coming from Insomniac probably the second best Sony development team they could have made something that looked better then a bad 360 game even if it was a launch title... really there's so many things I just can't stand surrounding this game, I'm going to try Resistance 2 to see if they improved anything... other then the visuals of course which is obvious...

Go play Red Steel and try not to cry. Then get back to me.

It's an LA joke. If you lived there for a bit, you'd understand the reference. It's not a slight on the studio, it's a slight on the city itself.

Okay, to elaborate, the Soviet Monica phrase is an LA thing. Not a slight on the studio. If you've been to the city, you'd understand the joke.

Other than that, I'd put Polyphony and Media Molecule over Soviet Monica. Which would put Soviet Monica in sixth place overall...

Again, like I said earlier, that's more of a testament to how good Sony's first/second parties are over how good Soviet Monica's studio really is. They all make great games.

resistance in my eyes was a quality game. great storyline. for the price its at now its a bargain. res2 was sooo awesome. again another great ending.

You should of tried Resistance 2, first. The sequel has improved significantly upon the two year old game that is R:FOM.
