Really? I never got a Quake feeling from it. Well, maybe a little. I got more of a "AvP/Quake/Doom 2/Half-Life/late 90s LucasArts shooters/everything else I can think of" feeling from R:FoM. All I got from it is "Damn, I've played this game a hundred times before". Maybe it's fresh to you guys who haven't played many shooters past Halo but it was damned stale to me. |
Oh definitely. If this game was released 10 years ago it would be the game everyone talks about and held as high as Half-Life but since it was released in 2007 it's just overly generic and been done before.
I actually love how they're telling the story like it's some History Channel special, I dig that, and now that I've remapped the controls I even like the controls a little better but the gameplay is just so cookie cutter and the world is just so bare with meh level design. At the escape from conversion plant you wander through empty house after empty larger house and eventually end up in a very large empty *boring* warehouse before a so-so gun fight.
The game isn't bad I just don't get why people love it so much other than there was just nothing else when it was first released.
