Forums - Gaming - PS3 had best lineup for holidays,Wii had worst = Wii sells 4 times more.

I like that people use other people's opinions to state how good or bad games are, but have never played them themselves.

It's sort of like junior high, where "everybody" says something about a person they don't know, and after they all say it enough it becomes "fact."

I've played many of the games that have scored "poorly" on the Wii, and I can at least say having experienced many of them that the "scores" mean nothing to me anymore.

But hey, if people need others to tell them what to like, or how to dress, then by all means they should go with what they know. Or don't know.

Sadly the average consumer is not as informed as we are and therefore has no idea that the Wii has a weaker library than the PS3.

If every consumer would have had your quality standards than 360 would have sold around 80 million by now, with PS3 and Wii at exactly zero.

I game on Wii more often than on my 360, but use the DS about double those combined. Does that make me a casual non-gamer?

(I love the term non-gamer by the way, it takes a hyper intelectual brain in overdrive to call someone that plays games you don't like a non-gamer).

Back in GBA time, playing only on GBA would make you fool. But nowdays you can easily say that I play only on DS or PSP.

But I use my PSP most of times for music player.

The average consumer is buying less than 10 games total over the lifetime of their console.  (a few games a year)  The average consumer has never heard of MGS, and has no interest in Resistance.  Having a huge library of great hardcore games is meaningless to most average consumers, who are buying 2-3 games per year.

@ usul. How can it not be? Commercial success is the only measure because it's real. Not just 1 or 2 peoples opinions but all of the game buying public. Obviously every person is entitled to their own opinion but at the end of the day it's just that. Their personal opinion. They can also be in the minority of one. ALL i was saying was that the game buying public has voted with their wallets. That is surely the only "real" measure of quality because it's what the majority want.

But people is not only considering quality when they purchase something, they consider lots of things (price, opinions, interests,...) and can be very vurnerable to brilliant marketing campaings (not only advertising). There are lots of exemples outside videogames where people don't buy the most quality product.

Play my LittleBigPlanet level: Mystic Runner. Thanks!

The wii does have a good amount of games already released though. People want to get games like super mario galaxy, wii fit, mario kart wii, smash bros brawl, rock band, GH3 and wii fit still. On top of this wii comes with wii sports, and its at a cheaper price. Thats a much more appealing buy for parents. Especially when thats what there kids want anyway.

Support good third party games on wii. Buy games like house of the dead overkill, de blob, madworld, the conduit and boom blox.

Am I crazy in thinking a console's specfic holiday line up is probably not much of a concern to someone who is new to a particular video game console?

When I bought my 360 I didn't care what was coming out at the time, I looked into getting Dead Rising and Viva Pinata cheap. Good games don't stop being good because they came out last year, and if someone has never played them, they're new to that person.

It's the same reason the PS2 is still selling. A lot of people buying it now aren't getting it because of anything coming out, but because of it's entire library.

THIS!

I think its kinda how britney spears trumps radiohead in sales.

5 THINGS I'd like to see before i knock out:

a. a AAA 3D sonic title

b. a nintendo developed game that has a "M rating"

c. redesgined PS controller

d. SEGA back in the console business

e. M$ out of the OS business

"I like that people use other people's opinions to state how good or bad games are, but have never played them themselves."

I try to make it clear I'm just going by those, nothing more. As in I'm noting the opinions of others, not how good a game actually is.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Don't you people get it? Ps2 didn't sell as much as it did 'cause of the awsome library of games! It sold 'cause it was the "it console" of that gen, like the Wii is the "it console" of this gen. With the trifecta of Wii Sports, Play and Fit out there, Nintendo could stop making games right now till the end of the gen, which they won't, and they'd still beat every sales record known to man. Which games are in the top 5 ww sellers right now? That's right, the Triforce of Nintendo Power. You guys don't get that those were the games that made this generation...

Edit: Ok, so I checked out the top 5 and Wii Fit wasn't there, but my point is still valid...

Edit2: I actualy was not looking at the ww chart. Wii Fit IS on to 5. I was wrong to doubt myself...

Quem disse que a boca é tua?

Qual é, Dadinho...?

Dadinho é o caralho! Meu nome agora é Zé Pequeno!

oh boy..... once again.

Wii sells more b/c that's what people like. They enjoy playing and dont care about HD graphics or anything like that.

People like the wii = wii > Ps3.
