Forums - Nintendo - Fatal Frame IV, Monster Hunter 3 and Dragon Quest X: What's next?

@celine

Yeah, I know he left. I just have no idea what this project could be? Pray for not another casual game.

After DQIX was announced for DS, every single JRPG developer went DS. I expect the same to happen with the Wii, so we'll surely see more of that genre, if not all.

Also we'll see some huge franchises that can be viable on the Wii like Tiger Woods, quirky FPSs like TimeSplitters, etc either move to the Wii exclusively or make the Wii their lead platform.

Hmmm Even though they're were two Kingdom Hearts games on Nintendo systems (CoM and the upcoming 358/2 days) I dont think you will actually see KHIII on the wii. A game like that is something that I believe the Devs would like to either A. try making it on the HD market to see how far they can push the Hardware itself and B. I think Tetsuya would prefer if the main series stayed on the PS brand. But since he's stated hes a Fanboy for PS and Nintendo consoles its any ones guess. But right now the cards are leaning towards it staying with Sony exclusively

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

My thoughts:

Main series
Suikoden
Shenmue
Kingdom Hearts
Arcadia (well not really a series though)
House of the Dead (already confirmed)
Shining Force (Fire Emblem sold very well)
Shin Megami Tensei

Spin-offs
Resident Evil
GTA
Castlevania
Metal Gear

Shining Force (Fire Emblem sold very well)

Of particular note is Shining Force Gear, especially considering one of the team working on the Wii game let slip of its existence a few months back on his personal Japanese blog, then tried to stop people from spreading it as news (hence it barely being reported on anywhere). The game is heading to Wii, following the release of the Flight-Plan developed Shining Force Feather on Nintendo DS.

Kingdom Hearts III is a high possibility, and I could also see another Final Fantasy game coming to the Wii (not just Crystal Chronicles).

And I could be wrong, but wasn't Suikoden announced to be coming to Wii in the future? or was that the DS? can't remember but i heard it's coming to a Nintendo console.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Awesome news, I completely missed that.

It was more of a rumour that Shenmue 1+2 would be coming to Wii with a chance of Shenmue 3 if it sold well enough. Nothing even near an official announcement. I do feel that Sega has big plans with Wii and that if their big 3 (MadWorld, Overkill and Conduit) sell well they'll want to bring Shenmue back. It is after all still a big franchise.

A GTA game would be amazing even if it's a spin-off (why not a GTA: San Andreas Stories?, to help it sell well)

@routsounmanman : since the developers are closing doors, I highly doubt we'll see TimeSplitters 4 in a long time.

The new Suikoden title was announced for the NDS. I still hope Konami open his eyes and see the install base of the Wii in Japan just like SquareEnix did. Konami still hasn't done/anounced any BIG game for the Wii, what are they waiting for?
