I feel that Dissidia is going to have very strong sales for a long time and may just trump Monster Hunter 2g's massive momentum. 500k week one, anyone expect this to boom for the coming future?

Trump it? No way. Monster Hunter 2G sold 857k opening week.

Dissidia's 500k is incredible as well, though.

I think if a proper exclusive FF RPG (something in the Fabulos Crystallis or whatever it is) released on PSP, it could break a million first week. Until then, I say the crown is safe with Monster Hunter.

Worldwide they will be about even I believe (if MH2G ever releases in the West) But in Japan there is no way Dissidia will reach MH's numbers.

Final Fantasy games are very fontloaded usually as the series has such a strong fanbase in Japan.

But it has a shot of selling one million units.

well i feel this way because dissidia has all the characters that both the young and old generation love. nes and snes people will have a lot to smile about with their older generation final fantasies, while ps1 and ps2 people will also be happy with their new generation final fantasies. i really think that that will cause this title to boom.

The highest selling Final Fantasy ever (FFVII) has sold 4 million units in Japan, since then the series has been in a steady decline sales-wise. (Final Fantasy XII's sales have still been huge though but that's not my point).

So even if you assume that there are still 3 million potential Final Fantasy fans left in Japan, not all of them own a PSP and not all of them will purchase this game.

You mean like FFaXIII? It is part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis series.
