Forums - Gaming - Ubisoft: Disapointed by Prince of Persia's poor reception

You know what VG are not the same as movies. You don't need to go buy the thing as soon as its released.

Economic pressure is ruining the pace of vg production and profit.

And look at how the Wii is turning that front loading into something else.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Well.. when does something new and exciting become repetitive?

I think a lot of games like POP and mirrors edge are made, then their sequels will go on to sell more. It takes time to get a new idea off the ground, and for it to sell well.

But by that time, the forums are clamoring for yet the next new thing, instead of the next iteration of what was once a new thing.

By the time the new formula for mirrors edge or POP is perfected, and the games are near perfect, the masses will be ready to move onto the next game. Its all cyclical.

Truly new innovations are not desired by the masses at first, how could they be? Just pump out the sequel, and all will be right in the world.

̶3̶R̶D̶   2ND! Place has never been so sweet.

Maybe they shoulda bought this game out for Wii?

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

The game was EXTREMELY weak. It wasn't good at all. It was GREAT for the first 30 minutes then you just realized you just press A at the right time and you are done.

I take it you didn't think that the NES or the Wii were true innovations?

Well I don't know what to say about the reception of this game, but I do have a copy of this game waiting for me to open it tomorrow night! =D

Then maybe they shouldn't have alienated their prior fans by completely disregarding the Sands of Time-trilogy. Hey, just an idea.

Maybe they shouldn't have disregarded the ACTUAL fans by making the Sands of Time trillogy at all then? Thank you for the new direction, I jsut wish the gameplay didn't suck. I don't want endless sequels.

That's what you get for releasing every single game within a 2 month time frame.
They get lost in the mass.
Someone need to remind developers that there are 12 months in a year...

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

Just like every other platformer ever made...

Excuses.
This is their entire fault for believing what gamers are saying on the Internet.
This is a typical example of being in caught in "believing what people said".
I think it was in one of "Iwata asks" session that Nintendo said they learned long ago to not "listening to what people say", but rather to "look at what they're doing".
Often, the customer doesn't know himself what he wants.
That's pretty obvious of gamers on Internet. That or their wish is nearly always far from what most people wish.
