Forums - Sales Discussion - Will next weeks sales be even bigger than this weeks?

Boxing day is huge here in canada too, I imagine it is pretty much everywhere.

Support good third party games on wii. Buy games like house of the dead overkill, de blob, madworld, the conduit and boom blox.

So then we should expect similar sales for week ending DEC 27 that we had this week.. mhm.

we will see, I expect higher sales though

Look, I found it for you.

This is 2003, where the dates align nicely with this year (Christmas day on a Thursday)

Sales for the wee ending 27th should be down.

Unfortunately you can't rely on the past trends every time.  I think they have a chance of being slightly higher because the amount of procrastinators is HUGE, but it could also be about flat or slightly lower than Dec. 20th numbers.

Also that chart from 2003 is 21st/28th whereas this year is 20th/27th ..

Dude the hardware sales for last week (Dec. 20th) are INSANE... 1 million Wiis in the Americas alone?!? How the hell is that possible?!?

Um....America has the highest consumption rate in the world. How is that impossible to believe?

No, the dates on the charts are wrong.... if you look at the charts for this year it also says 21st on it even though for America and Europe the tracking week actually ends on the 20th.

Wii might be up, but it depends on supply, but last year didn't Wii sell 600k alone on the Sunday before Christmas? Maybe this year Ninty also shipped alot this Sunday.

I'm saying that it's impossible, but no console has ever come CLOSE to selling over 1,000,000 units in one week, and we're not even talking about launch or anything, we're talking over 2 years after said console hit the market.

Atari, NES, SNES/Genesis, Playstation, N64, PS2... NONE of the top selling systems from past generations managed to sell even half a million during a 1 week period in America during their heydey, so it's pretty much unheard of what the Wii just did.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.
