yes but all the xbox had was shooters, it had few decent rpgs and few successful games that werent shooter or action based.  The PS2 had EVERY category that is what i am trying to get at, the Wii still does not

Exactly. Just imagine how well the Wii will sell when 3rd party developers start releasing games in every genres.

Some developers are not worried about the potential of a system of the Wii and it's marketing capabilties, but the power deficit and purpose in which it has as well as Nintendos casual approach in almost an abandonment of the hardcore (Even though they haven't completely done that, what i'm talking about is perception).

From me you wont hear " Wait for 199 ps3", if the ps3 doesnt start selling drasticly well at 299 then I know for sure they lost this gen.

You don't already know?

Most publishers/developers won't have a choice. Japanese ones already have a hard time ignoring it due to its overwhelming presence in Japan as compared to the PS360. Western ones will be in a similar situation as its marketshare rises and the financial crisis will only help them go there (see take two's: "we have to look at the Wii as a viable platform, because we can't ignore that install baseWe just can't").

Also, my post was worded to evoke the old PS3 fans cries of "it's selling well for the price now, just wait until it get some games" way back in 2007.

I'd agree with you, however there are some devs where it counts that would deny the Wii just based on the things I told you. I used to think like you that they need the money so they will make 3rd party titles for the most powerful system. What I've learned is that this gen there are many reasons why devs are taking so long to react to the Wii's success.

P.S.

I'll be back later, i'm going to get some sleep.

Oh yes it will.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

I don't really care if it does or not as long a s Nintendo makes billions of $ in profits and so making it hard for them to ever go bankrupt.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

Before the Wii released they already had $15B or $20B in the bank and no debt... Keep in mind Nintendo is a relatively small corporation, less than 4000 employees.

Some devs can do without the Wii, which is why I qualified it with most (infinity ward, bungie, insomniac for example) but those whose games are not quite at that level will have more and more dificulty to do so when the choice will be between taking the Wii seriously or joining the ranks of Free Radical/Factor 5 (has the later been confirmed/debunked?).

They might resist tooth and nail before bowing to it but at worst a given developer might go under and then its workforce will have to find a job and in the future there is more likely to be jobs available making games for the Wii than for the PS360. It is just that it is a time consuming process, then there is the development time once they get their ass in gear making Wii games. That's why we are only starting to see plenty of Japanese games for the Wii in '09. It took them so long to shift gear that we will only see the result next year.

it touch and go. Wii is a must have console at the moment, even if it is just to accompany a HD console. i think it will bottom out at 130 mn or so. Whether or not this is enough to beat the still selling PS2, we'll have to wait and see!
