I would complain how its unfair they gave it GOTY award for the simple reason World of Goo is 15$...

But in the end those award mean nothing so i guess they can do whatever the hell they want. =/

IGN's awards don't mean much sales wise.

Recall the overall GOTY 2006? The dev studio was dissolved 3 months later.

What does that have to do with anything? This is about the best games, not (necessarily) the best sellers.

i thought mario kart was a shoe-in. i've played all 3 (goo, ssbb, mk) and own two of them and while brawl is amazing and is a big improvement over melee in graphics, and several modes its not actually a huge step up from melee cuz the main thing needed to perfect melee was online and they put crappy online in brawl.

world of goo is an amazing game, i love it. definitely the best downloadable title of the year for any system. but mario kart is clearly superior to both of these games. while there are a couple of disappointing things for MK like battlemode, still it brought back another great edition of the best mulitplayer franchise in gaming and gave us probably the best version of mario kart plus good online multiplayer. in a year when the only brilliant games for the wii was mario kart, brawl, and goo i don't understand of ign doesn't even put kart in for the running for GOTY.

brawl was good, but a bit of a let down. melee was and is still so much better.

on that note, how did it not win?

seriously WoG? Brawl is an amazing game. it should have won GOTY.

While this article was clearly written for the "hardcore" gamers, I still think it really fails. Wii Fit was clearly game of the year, and the entire world is letting us know that.

Mario kart follows it up along with Wii Music and Brawl.
