Note my sig, I'm going to be keeping as accurate a count as possible on this situation. The 360 gained ground on the PS3 this week, as far as the PS3's usual lead goes, so we're seeing a slowing in the catching up on Sony's part.

u know after everthing said and done i relized that japan will be the difference maker in a long run for ps3 if they sell more and more there it will be closer to 360 cause an average its more like 5-1 for ps3-360 but to catch up to north american it will take a long long time......

I've noticed something about a lot of the PS3 sales numbers, they push a massive european ps3 sales growth trend, and a 360 sales decline. I dont see this happening not soon anyway, considering this is the 360s second year and still no price cut there and it keeps up with the newly released PS3. It would take a significant european price cut to spur that kind of growth. the starter pack is nice and helps, will be great for the holidays. but with the 360s lead in europe, with a rumored price cut coming i dont see it out pacing the 360 there. The ps2 is undermining sales with continued new releases so fans will hold off till late next year i think. KBG29 put ps3 sales at 9 million in euope by next christmas and 360 at 7. if anything it will be the opposite though both goals seem high to me id adjust it to 6 ps3 and 8 360 barring an adjustment in european pricing of more than 150 euros.

if the ps3 is going to over take the 360 it will be due to the 360 under selling not the PS3 out selling. the wii should sell about the numbers of both consoles combined, then add people new to gaming, basically because there will be a good number of people buying the wii, then one of the other two. the wii is in its own market. I do mean that in the best way possible

Time for a little update on what PS3 needs to sell per week to pass xbox360 before the end of 2008.

So PS3 needs to sell somewhere around 144k and 172k. Most important xbox360 has increased is hardware sales the last weeks.

So do you still belive that PS3 will pass xbox360 before end of next year 2008?

I still have no doubt about PS3 passing 360 by the end of 08. After todays news in Germany, the case for the PS3 taking off in EU is even stronger. Sony just has to much of what they want to not have it happen. With Buzz, Singstar, MGS4, EYE, GT5, and more coming, it should be almost impossible for the PS3 to not take off in EU. The only way I can see a problem would be if Sony does not cut the Price within a reasonable time period.

Then in Japan Sony already has a massive lead, and with TGS coming next month I think we will see a lot of stuff caidering to that market announced. Really the sales have no were to go but up in Japan. I see a possible price cut annonced at TGS due to the low cost of shiping, and no import tax. I also see a lot of new support for PSN, and of course home will be right around the corner then. We should see a little bit of new FF stuff, and don't be surprised if we get a Kingdom Hearts for PS3 annoncement. In fact I think it is inevidable that KH is announced, due to the extreamly stong backing of Blu-ray by Disney, and the demand for disc space by Sqaure. I am expecting the PS3 to hit a good stride of 50k a week next year, and would not be suprised if it was slightly higher.

America is the only place where it is going to be toughf. I think it is very possible to outsell the 360 next year, but it will not catch up for a few years. I think the PS3 will edge it out in the US by 2011 unless thier is a big turn around. At the moment I just don't see any amount of stuff that can get the US consumer to go to heavly one side or the other. The market is just to split up. It is weird because it is called the UNITED states of america, and I think it is more DIVIDED the Japan, and the entire contenet of Europe. Between the 2 Sony has the best chance of having something that can swing the market. I think Home, and GT5 are about the only to things that have a chance of pulling people heavly to one side. Other than thouse 2 things the 2 consoles are just to equal. Americans just seem to not care about EYE, Singstar, Buzz, RPG's, and all the other stuff Sony delevers. If those things somehow catch on now (which would be werired because 44m people in the US seemed to not give a dam about them on the PS2, but somehow they really love it on Wii and DS which both are more expensive) then they could also be tied turners, as MS oinly has a competitor to Buzz.

 You do relise that we are talking about a 44%-72% increase ot the weekly sales (WW) starting next week if that should happen. I don't say that PS3 wont pass the 360 but I can't see it happening in 2008. Well that doesn't matter I will keep my numbers updated and we will see who is right or wrong.

- with a 100$ price drop in USA Sony was able to double is number WITHOUT game.
- I dont imagine what will happen in Japan (the console is cheaper here BUT still expensive) and Europe.
- Game are coming with some big hit : like HeavenlySword/unchartred and in 2008 : GTA4/Killzone2/LBP/MGS4/GT5/Singstar/DMC4 and more later RE5/FFXIII+versus

If people are able to buy X expensive console without game per month I dont see why they will not be able to buy 2X console per month with a price drop + games
