Forums - Nintendo - New Dead Rising Wii Trailer

"Yeah sure. The game is to be released in two months so beta or not, the end result will be like this. Aka underwhelming."

Capcom stated a while ago that these trailers and shots are not the final build. They could be lying, but it could be that the development team is scrambling to get the game done on time, and all the marketing team has to go by is the build from six months ago.

Or it could be like what we've been seeing.

I'm just waiting it out.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Hmm, dunno, looks alright, but also kinda really slow for an action game.. don't think I'll be getting this, but who knows. Maybe second hand.

Looks horrible to me :S

Finally looking pretty good. Not outstanding by any means as it's still a little rough around the edges, but it's coming along fairly well. Zombie numbers still need to be upped. Capcom promised 100 on screen at once.

That excuse may have worked 3-4 months ago but here we are seeing pretty much the same crap now.   It isn't gonna get better.  This is shovelware.  Look how long it has taken them to make.  This is a no effort no quality quick cash in attempt.

They said it a couple month ago, and it is not shovelware. No matter how the game turns out, they still redid every texture and model to fit on the Wii. It is impossible to just slap something like that together, even if the end result is lackluster.

Looks a lot better than it did when it was announced. Nice to see Capcom cares about its ports.

Is the team that ported RE4 to the Wii doing this one as well?

Can I say mediocre PS2 quality?

Sorry, but it looks completely horrible. I don't even know what I hate most. The complete lack of polgons, the complete lack of lightning/shading, the complete lack of zombies or the horrendous color scheme.

I vote for option C. Poor lighting/models don't bother me (hell, I'm still playing PS1 games...). But the lack of zombies make it look like it'll just be too...easy. I mean, the tunnels had more zombies than we've seen before, but they weren't doing anything, and you could still find large gaps between them.

If I was on that team, I would have sacrificed a bit of what made Dead Rising Dead Rising: the Wii can't handle the numbers, so make fewer zombies, but faster, tougher, and smarter ones, that respawn shortly after one is killed. Dealing with countless waves of enemies using RE4 controls may not be "Dead Rising," but it would be fun.

Maybe that's what they're actually going for, though? The last scene with the running zombies tells me that they have at least some faster models...

We'll see. I'm still keeping an eye on this one, personally.

@SNESBoy: Yup. Same team.

I'm definitely no graphic whore myself, but there's just something about these vids I really can't stand. I think it's mainly color scheme/lack of shaders-lightning.

If the game will be really hard I'll buy it, like you say: less Zombies but hard to kill. The vids don't point me in that direction though.
