Both had pretty crappy advertising (I think)
ToV was undersupplied and I guess Disgaea as well.
In one sentence: Too many factors could lead into a wrong result either way.

I see it now....Well, that's interesting. I doubt Starcraft will show up in this thread Xen.

Correct on both points. Disgaea 3 didn't have advertising at all, I think.
Disgaea had low supplies initially, btw. Nippon Ichi didn't expect high sales..
Too bad we can't compare Disgaea 3 to the first 2 games. For all we know, it could still be a bad number compared to those games.
Guessing the actual sales of games selling at such low levels over an extended period is pretty much a craps shoot.
Disgaea 3 had a bump in sales when holiday season started. Valkyria Chronicles (by the looks of it = constant decrease) and Tales of Vesperia did not.
However, not to upset anyone but if you want to assume that PS3 is a jRPG console using that argument then go take a look at IU and LO sales.
@Rei
and then I will inform you of the differences in genre as well as advertising between those two titles and Disgaea 3. It'll be fun.

@ Torillian
And then I will inform you of the differense in metacritic score between those 2 titles and Valkyria Chronicles. It will not be fun.
