Well, since no one has responded to my comments, I still stand by my posting of the Gamepro review, and how this is different from the Lair fiasco.

egm/up whined about the sixaxis controls, others liked them.

Why arent more people hating on this game for the bad review like thay did with Lair.

DKII beat me to it, but honestly Lair is going to get bashed if it gets average reviews because it has been praised on end as being "Game of the Year" material and a "System Seller"

Most of the praise has come from its graphics, and they sure did not fail on that front.

Ok, the guys at 1up tend to disagree with the other reviewers around... be it for bad or for good haha. That's why I don't believe on reviews anymore, because they are very very very subjective.

Even when reviewers are professionals, experts or what not, they still have personal taste for games. For example, Silent Hill 2 has like 6 or 7 on some sites, but I love this game to death and for me it's a definite 10.

Arent wii fanboys the ones making it ut to be some savior, some dude had a av with it on a calender. PS3 owners just want to play some kick ass dragons. Iam sure every one knows that the big system movers are now all in 2008.

Well, by "FANBOY" I take it you mean ME - as it was my sig...???

And if you followed the history of that, it came from another classic Washimul(?) quote - that "LAIR starts PS3 domination". Followed by someone else creating the image, which I then ripped for my sig. Also note that it is now gone (as promised).

No one here is suggesting that Boogie will start Wii domination ;) - just debating that two reviewers that basically said the same things in two different reviews - can give a game 8.0 and a 3.0.

...

As for the 2nd part of what you said (bold) - WTH???

Firstly I take it you mean PS3 only - Halo3, Galaxy, Metroid, Mass Effect & Brawl are very much system movers in my opinion ;)

Secondly - I find it disheartening that a PS3 "fan" no longer believes Uncharted, R&C, LAIR or Heavenly Sword will sell units... so what, are you conceding that the PS3 will get smashed this Xmas?

...

Do yourself a favour, and review your posts before you press the post button ;)

Wow, I remember Myst. One of those games that was "worth it" on the Mac... well, on that times.

Meh, average game = average reviews.

I say the same for this game and lair, both will be average games. This moreso than Lair.

Seriously who uses 1up for Wii reviews? They pretty much blatantly hate the system and motion controls in general.

The same 1up that gave LoZ:TP  three perfect 10s and the Game of the Year award. Ya ..... they sure are biased.

Guys, lets wait for a bunch of reviews to hit first. We know a bunch of sites traditionally "hard-mark" Wii titles - especially Wiimote heavy ones.

Show me proof of this.

There likelys isnt much bias at 1UP. There is surely some, listen to the podcasts, then read the reviews, its obvious. But there isnt ALOT of bias where they are just horrible and unreliable.

However one thing cannot be disputed. No console has the wide range of review scores that Wii has. You can check any game ranking site that exists mate. I have never seen so many reviews for the same game range from 40% to 91%. It is completely ridiculous. Then when you read the reviews, it gets worse, because alot of the stuff conflicts about the controls. I mean its unreal. The control scores in reviews for Wii games vary so unbelieveably widly that you are guaranteed a chuckle scrolling through the different games reviews.

The bad thing is the controls play an absolutely integral part in the overall score and enjoyment of the game. So you end up with

Gaming site 1 Controls were GREAT Score: 90%

Gaming site 2 Controls were mediocre Score: 62%

Gaming site 3 Controls were unresponsive and uninspired Score: 45%

Its not that any site is biased. Its just that with a new motion based control input for this gen, there are going to be massive difference in the interpretation of whether or not they are good. And thats going to keep the reviews ranging all over the place. I cannot wait to see what they do to the ratings of Mario Galaxy.

Ive seen reviews score down for games on Wii requiring to much motion, calling it excessive, Ive seen them scored down for being to little on motion controls, and Ive seen the games (Japanese) that dont use motion at all scored down, for not using motion on the Wii. Its like theres no middle ground, and I dont expect that to change for Galaxy. That game is going to get raped lol. No matter what, some people are always going to find the motion controls "clunky, unresponsive, to simplistic, to difficult etc etc"

I don't agree with that either.

TP is good game, but it was nowhere near a 10 - and not even close to GOTY in my opinion.

...

Its not so much bias, as inconsistency. You can't do much better than comparing across the board scores of 1UP with that on gamerankings. A couple are too high, some are very close - and a lot of then are much lower than the norm.

TP = 10, RE4 = 8, Sonic = 7.5?

I agree that we should create a new thread to debate this in.

Either way, Boogie looks average at best.

The ratings will be amazing across the board. The use of the pointer to manipulate the environment matched with the ability to have a second player jump in to help out has recieved nothing but beaming reports from reviewers. Nothing short of Game destroying glitches and Nazi Pornography will cause Mario Galaxy to get bad reviews.
