First day 115k in Japan,first week 169k and a LTD WW 550k.

Europe and others don't really buy jrpgs other then FF. In NA, it depends on if it's released next to a shooter then it will just get ignored like VC.

VC was released on wrong platform.

How so???

If you mean it would have sold better on DS or PSP then i agree.

Wii as well.

Now Playing: The Witcher (PC)

Consoles Owned: NES, SNES, N64, PS1, PS2, Wii, Xbox 360, Game Boy, DS

Ehm it sold 33k first month in the US.

There are several possible explanations: PS3 userbase is more shooter/sportsminded and doesn't have the JRPG base PS3 userbase doesn't like cell-shaded graphics (PoP is another hint in that direction).

I know SRPG is different from SRPG but the general fanbase is about the same, just a lot smaller. But 33k is pathetic. Fire Emmblem sold 400k in the US and released on about the same userbase as the PS3 now.

Fire Emblem is a relatively popular series.  VC is a loved yet unhyped IP.

I am hoping the best for this game as it would show that the console is a viable JRPG platform and also Level 5 would allow Sony to aquire them, and Sony could do with an in-house RPG dev team as that seems to be the only area for 1st party games where they are lacking!

I predict 300-500k (hopefully)

Which is why it needs:

1) more advertising

2) A large userbase

3) Lower dev cost

All 3 of those would be easier on the wii (the advertising would be easier since dev costs would be lower). And on Fire Emblem, its still a nich title in the US. Plus, those tales numbers are sexy for a spinoff. I think VC could have done 70-100k in us during the first month on the wii with a bit of advertising.

Yeah the Wii would do alright with it, especially this time of yr when the lineup seems a little weak. Opinions vary though. Your comparing Fire Emblem and Tales of to a new ip on a HD console that no one knows about.  VC has 50k on this site for NA for the month compared to 120k of ToS for the month.

But i do get Bengas point, the userbase for PS3 is growing towards a shooter/sports minded gamer.  My own opinion is that this title could of sold better with advertising and released in the summer months during the dry season.

Fire Emblem is very niche. Radiant Dawn proves that there's quite a good userbase for SRPGs on Wii. FE fans are also pretty involved in the internet community as the Radiant Dawn thread on VGC was one of the biggest for a game ever here and also on places like GameFaqs these games are among the most discussed.

Valkyria could probably sell pretty well to that audience. Not 400k but more than on PS3, with lower dev costs and lesser competition.

I am hoping the best for this game as it would show that the console is a viable JRPG platform and also Level 5 would allow Sony to aquire them, and Sony could do with an in-house RPG dev team as that seems to be the only area for 1st party games where they are lacking!

Please don't believe that. Sony simply doesn't have the money to buy L5 and it wouldn't have an added value as JRPGs don't decide console sales.

Between 310k & 560k.
But of course I am hoping for more sold units.

DQ does in Japan.

Actually it is the other way around. The winning system gets DQ.
