Forums - Sony - LBP,you need to try it.

I'm getting it in a few weeks :D

I could have bought it a month ago, but it was between LBP and BioShock. BioShock is amazing.

@ comrade toya:

in case you weren't convinced already:

Basically, it's run from left to right, sometimes going up and down, or even back and front to avoid / capture whatever you want.

However, the level design is absolutely amazing. It is pure fun to play a level (although I'm getting extremely frustrated at one of the last levels >_>), even if you have already played it lots of times.

You can compare it Super Mario Galaxy. It's a platformer of the absolute brilliant kind. (some of the bits and pieces of the levels are absolutely marvellous)

Collecting the bubbles aside (which is a lot like the star bits in SMG, even though you have to run over them and they actually serve a highscore purpose), you will definitely go back to collect all the items that can be collected in the levels. For some reason - I thought I would never do it, because I couldn't care about some background or some sound or some object - it is highly addictive.

Not only does it bring you closer to 100% completion of the level and the game, they have been smart enough to connect those to the actual gameplay.

Every once in a while you will find an empty cardboard picture. Providing that you have collected that actual decoration or sticker, you can then enlarge, rotate or flip that sticker and paste it onto the empty cardboard picture, giving you access to more stickers and such which were hidden.

There are also backtrack options in the level which do not give you the opportunity to get somewhere faster, but it'll give you the opportunity to get some more bubbles or some new stickers.

Add in the parts that are only accessible when you are playing with two or with 4 players, and you'll see that they have managed to lengthen the game quite a bit, without actually making it boring, because playing with more people is a blast.

And that's not even considering the multiplayer (some levels are absolutely brilliant) and going for the trophies (which is also fun).

Other than that, the game sucks ;)

Try it.I was one of those who just ingnored the game, then my friend came and we played it..

Awesome.

Ditto.  I couldn't see the challenge in all the levels posted here on the forum, since they appeared to be rather easy.  But after getting this game for free with my ps3, I must say that MM has made a gem of a game.

No matter how stupid it is to go hunting for bubbles and for decorations, it is insanely fun to do.

And that's even without doing it co-op >_> (which will happen tomorrow ^^)

I thoroughly loved Super Mario Galaxy, but this game has more of a drive to it (thanks to those bubbles and such).  In SMG, you only had to go for the star, and it didn't really matter that much if you had the star bits.  In this game, you actually get a use for your decorations and such.  And they even lengthen the game.

Absolutely love this title.

I am so glad to see that you have realized that no matter how pretty a video may look, in no way do any of them do this game justice.

It is harder than it looks and damn fun as well.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

By the way papflesje, would that level happen to be "The Bunker"?

The one with the rotating wheel near the end?

Consoles owned: Game Cube, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, Nintendo DS, PSP, PS1, PS2, PS3.

My prediction: NATAL WILL NOT help 360 sales. Maybe a 50-100k boost week 1, then a 30-70 k boost week 2, and back to the norm again after 3-5 weeks.

I finally sat down with it this weekend for a good long while and I wasn't really impressed. It's not bad, don't get me wrong, I just don't think it lives up to anywhere near the amount of hype it had.

The levels that come with the game are fun. There are annoying parts (moving into foreground and background are annoying) but all in all the basic game is fun. Again, not anything amazing but still fun.

I then decided to give the user created levels a go and my worries were true-- they were mostly suck. I tried the high rated ones and all of them but one (Little Big Ninja Warrior) just weren't good.

There were a bunch of music ones where you just sit there. Whoopdeedo, you made a song and I get to sit there. I guess one person tried to change things up by making you push the block that pulls the music. Go them.

Then there were some remake levels. There was a Mario one that was interesting but just not ever good. There was a really large Sonic one that showed a lot of promise but it had incredibly shitty framerate, the music kept breaking up, and then I couldn't finish it because of a game stopping bug.

There were random levels like a Ghostbusters level that was a cool theme and nice with all the effort they put into it but the level itself sucked.

I think the coolest level I actually saw was one that got me 8 trophies in 30 seconds. That one got a high rating but it wasn't actually fun, I'm just a trophy whore.

So yeah, not a bad game itself but nowhere near the hype it's getting. And so far all my worries about the user community have come true. All those shitty levels I played were rated high, I'd hate to see the low rated ones.

I'll probably fiddle with the level editor sometimes soon so I can weigh in on that.

Twesty im guessing u didnt play God of war map since it was removed. Well i did and it was my favo map :'(, Then there are ALOT of maps that are highly rated some was in the beta = more ppl played it. But there are a few that makes it actually worth loving the game XD. God of war was my personal favourite, then there was one star wars 4 P lightsaber duel first i was like ehh then i found out i can grab the thing on the lightsaber and move a stick that has lightning on it and coloured in blue and red, i enterd with my friend and lmfao did we have a good time XD.

I actually have to agree with Twesterm here. Though my problem is more with the actual platforming, even with 3 other friends when we sit down, I just want to throw my controller out the window out of frustration with sackboy's phlegmatic jumping, and I usually consider myself a laid back, patient person. I'm also not too keen on the created levels, they just feel outright simple and nowhere near as fun to play as I thought. In the end, it's alright to play for an hour or so before moving on to truly fun co-op games (Left4Dead is just so damn good). Don't get me wrong the game is fun, just nowhere near as fun as people make it sound, I also think it's a nice opening for new, innovative titles of this sort, with communities and stuff. Then again that's just what I think.
