Forums - Sales - America sales up, Big numbers

I said in SSJ12's anecdotal evidence thread that WaW sold tons and these games didn't sell any. Looks like my anecdotal evidence was correct, unfortunately. Good games should sell well....not like this.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.

One thing I noticed is there are only 2 PS3 games in the top 40, at numbers 12, and 30.

I said on the comments for the chart that if you divide out games per console, the software sales for both 360 and PS3 are pretty equal. The ratio of install base to the ratio of weekly software totals are both a little over 2:1

The PS3 is moving software ok. It may not be the titles people WANT to sell more, but they are doing fine. They just look bad because of the install base discrepancies between the PS3 and 360 or Wii. There are the rare ttiles like COD:WaW that are more like 3:1 360 sales, but that says more about the FPS crowd and online gaming on Live than a 3rd party purchase leaning toward 360's favor. Other games like Tomb Raider more than cover the 2+:1 install base ratio.

Can't we all just get along and play our games in peace?

Oh my god... Assassin's Creed (360) beating Resistance2... lol
Assassin's Creed man...

Sad figures for Sony Blockbusters:

LittleBigPlanet = Rank 44

Resistance 2 = Rank 52

Motorstorm 2 = Out of Top 200

Valkyria Chronicles = Out of Top 200 (and people are saying that RPG on 360 are commercial flop... lol:

Infinite Undiscovery (with bad reviews) sold more Lifetimed WW than Valkyria Chronicles (with stellar reviews) (not to mention VC is available since April in Japan for PS3...).

Same thing with The Last Remnant (with average reviews), beating Worldwide LTD VC sales this week (with Japan figures unveiled later today).

Look like Square made the right move.

My Gaming Setup

NEORAF - I hope you realize how silly you made yourself sound by comparing a SE jrpg with huge hype to a sega SRPG with little budget, little shipments, little hype, and no adverts.

If you want to see if SE made the right move or nott look at PES '09.... then think of how much more TLR or IU would have sold on the ps3.

How does the tie ratio come into this? Developers want raw sales and proifit. Those are the two most important things (one which leads to the other :P). The fact is, as long as the same title is selling double on one console as it is on the other, which one do you think is going to get developers attention? Which one are the investors going to want to develop for? The fact is, with the Xbox starting to outsell the PS3 by a hefty margin now this means an increase in the discrepency in sales numbers. Even if the tie ratios are the same.

Question is how much profit they made. If they made more with the microsoft support + sales than they would have with PS3 + no support, then SE made the right decision. Lets say SE would have solf 300k more units. Would that offset the developer funding that MS gave? Prolly not.
