Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Finally played Wii Music, went in wanting to hate this game...

I can't lie directing Carmen brought a smile to my face, it's one of my favorite songs to listen to and to direct on it was very fun. I love how everyone says there's no scoring or challenge in the game so they obviously overlooked directing which scores you on how well you direct the music.

I WANT this game. It's the only game this year that has me riled up, apart from maybe GTA IV.

I haven't wanted a game this much since I layed eyes on Guitar Hero.

Oh. And reviewers really need to play the game before reviewing them:

"No matter what song or instrument you play, everyone’s always in tune and on tempo.

There are, of course, lots of problems with this approach. Most egregiously, the Jam mode is all reward without any risk. Even a child’s toy piano carries the risk of playing too loudly or of playing the wrong notes in combination.

In Wii Music, there’s nothing to learn, nothing at stake, nothing to win. You’ll never sound better or worse than you do during your first minute of play"

Mind you, I haven't actually played this game yet, and even watching a couple of youtube videos can tell me that this is all bullshit.

God. I want Wii Music!

This is invisible text!

I'll get this game when it is really cheap.

Nintendo still doomed?
Feel free to add me on 3DS or Switch! (PM me if you do ^-^)

i had that experience too. I rented wii music and played it with my gf and its a lot of fun. My only problem is that there just wasn't enough stuff to do. But the whole idea is great and the instruments really do take skill to learn.

"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."

"The so-called "hardcore" gamer is a marketing brainwashed, innovation shunting, self-righteous idiot who pays videogame makers far too much money than what is delivered."

Did the same thing with wii fit toady since my mom got one for herself I must say it's really fun!

As a musician and a music composer myself, I have to say that I don't think this game is really a music game. Sure, you can be creative in your arrangement of the song but you're still extremely limited. It would have been so much better with a music creator mode like there is in Mario Paint. In the end, it helps you to keep a beat and how to make the difference between a few musical genre but it doesn't really teach you music. Just like I thought Guitar Hero wasn't worth (because you're much better playing a real guitar instead) it for a musician, I think neither is Wii Music.

It may be good for children or people that don't want to learn an instrument but what I recommend is to stop playing video games and learn an instrument.

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

Haha like I said this game was hated not because it was bad but because it replaced a Zelda Wii trailer or Kid Icarus showing at E3 08, or at least that was the perception. Never really had anything to do with the game. At least people are easy to read I suppose. Always good to understand why some do the things they do. But all ya really needed to know here is that ignorance leads to fear and fear always leads to hatred. People hate what they fear and always fear what they don't know.

Sorry for the Yoda interlude.

I'm a musician myself, and I must say that I respectfully disagree.  Then again, I also loved the Guitar Hero games.

Good for you. Never be swayed by opinion, always make your own decisions.

I heavily, heavily disagree with that statement. (Once again going with my policy that reviewers are out-of-touch with gamers) When I started playing wii-music, I sounded TERRIBLE. My Tune was off, Tempo was suffering, and my songs simply sounded terrible. After a bit of practice, I got the hang of making the song sound as though it should sound. After a day or two of practice, I was able to mix up songs, to make them sound unique and creative. But I always sound better than my last.

As for nothing at stake, you set your own goals. To alot of "hardcore" gamers, this is simply "oh, this song sounded horrible. Thus this game sucks". Completely forgetting the human element of the gameplay. Maybe the song sounded horrible because you didn't perform it well, or your goals were too low and you didn't want to improve it. The point is, you set your own goals and achieve them. That is what makes this game amazing.

As for song list? The songs are there so everyone knows em, I'm sure everyone knows the tune of Ode to Joy, or Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Those songs are alot easier than playing wii music and trying to perform Dragonforce's "Though the fire and flames"

I'm glad you want wii-music, I bought it for my library. It sits there proudly on the floor because the disc has been in the wii in use for several weeks now.

Why must JRPG female leads suck so bad?
