Forums - Sales - Gran Turismo Portable for PSP - System seller?

It is apparently in the making so sooner or later it is going to release but the question on my mind is that do you think it would be any kind of system seller, be that big or small? The franchise has sold plentys of PS2's and I would think GT5 will also sell systems but not sure about Gran Turismo on PSP. I dont think it would sell PSP's TBH, however I do think the game could sell 2 million on PSP.

I think it would.

But I also think it will be a PSP2 launch title.

Could very well be, apparently the chip for PSP2 has been announced and looks a beast so Yamauchi will be pleased.

No.. cause they will release it with the PSP2... cause WHERE IS MY GRAN TURISMO 4 MOBILE EDITION SONY?????? Wasn't it due ages ago??!! Like at launch of the PSP?? Weren't you showing of demo's???

And this makes me sad...

Gran Turismo PSP is coming, says Sony
News by Ellie Gibson

10 October, 2008

Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida has confirmed Gran Turismo PSP is still in development - even though it's been years since the game was first announced.

When asked where GT PSP has got to, Yoshida said, "Good question! It's in Polyphony Digital, they're working on it."

The reason for the delay, according to Yoshida, is that Polyphony have been busy with other projects. "They have been working on Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and Gran Turismo 5 for PS3, so they've had to focus on finishing up Gran Turismo on the PS3 side," he explained. "That's been making the PSP development a little bit slow."

So how much longer is there to wait? Could we see GT PSP next year, for example? "I cannot comment," said Yoshida.

He was also quiet on when we're likely to see anything of the next title from team ICO, simply saying, "I'm in conversation with the team." Presumably a conversation that goes "Have you done it yet?" "No sorry."

Yoshida's comments came in an interview with Eurogamer at the Tokyo Game Show. Read the full article to find out what he thinks about platform exclusivity, the New Xbox Experience and more.

NOBODY KNOWS!!!

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

A portable racer especially one like GT would just sell fantastically, surely PD could put a few people aside to make the game?

Oh yes, it would sell great. Need for Speed: Most Wanted sold over 2 million on PSP, I don't see any reason why this wouldn't sell 4 million +, considering it's popularity worldwide.

Talking about the PSP, has it made any profit yet for Sony? If so I fully expect a PSP2.

Handheld racing games can do quite well--just look at Mario Kart--so I think 2 million is definitely within the realm of possibility. It won't move systems to a great extent, though.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

All Gran Turismo games are system sellers, so yes.

Yes, but not as much as some might think. It will definatly boost HW though.
