while not a great score, as a rabid Castlevania fan, I'll pick this up. Finally a good surprise Konami.

I still don't see how a rabid Castlevania fan can be pleased with this game.

Do the special attacks still do 75% of your health in one shot?

Oh, they do? Oh dear!

So? Just because a move hurts like hell doesn't mean it's automatically broken.

Every character in Guilty Gear games has at least one instant-kill attack, and I'm pretty sure that the game mechanics allow 0-death combos (though I'm not exactly a pro in it), and I also seem to remember that one of Sols special attacks - the ground dash one - will do at least 70% damage on a bad day. Akuma of SF fame has the infamous Raging Demon, which will either hurt you severely or kill you, depending on the game and Akumas current incarnation. Marvel vs. Capcom 2 has droves of 0-death attacks and combos - hell, even Brawl has them.

Most of those moves and maneuvers you cite border on impossible to pull off.

Also: Brawl has multiple lives.

Even so, that wasn't the main point. Unless said Dracula's super is all of these:

1) Nearly lagless and/or covers a huge range
2) Easy to spam
3) Hard to block, evade and/or dodge
4) Hurts like hell even when blocked

Then it's not broken, IMO.

They take place in a cutscene, what makes you think they can beb locked at all? And why would it need to fulfill all of those criteria to be broken?

What I'm saying is that when every single character has a move that powerful, it comes down to "who can fire off their super attack first", which is ridiculous.

I like the fact that the art style is from the guy of death note.

That criteria is a tad too harsh, I admit. The move doesn't have to fulfill all of those, but usually a balance-breaking move fills at least three of those. And I don't really see where the balance is completely destroyed by Judgements supers.

I just took a look at gameplay videos of CVJ, and all of those moves seem like standard, albeit powerful, rush supers to me. Sure, they hurt like hell and are annoingly long IF they connect - every one of those moves had roughly a second of startup lag and a pose that just screams "move the fuck out of the way right now". Just like Marth's critical hit - except CH is an instant-KO if it connects.

Sure, a connecting super nets a significant advantage to the player that lands it, but then again, that's kinda the point. Kinda like combo(starter)s, if you think about it.

Just played this game last night with my son.

I'm no fan of fighters but to me this is as fun or good as any. However, my son (a much more hardcore player) had some reservations about it. The camera is wonky but no deal breaker, it works well enough.

Pros: Fun
Nice graphics
Easy to get off moves (no A,A,up, down,B crap)
Good for casual fighter fans
Good selection of characters with varying fighting styles
Has a story mode for each character

Cons: Camera needs some tuning
Hardcore fighter fans probably will find it lacking
It's a lot of waggling, my arm was beginning to get sore after 30 minutes
Not a lot of characters compared to other fighers
If the original concept was to allow you to feel like your flicking Belmont's whip and stuff, that's totally lost as it's all jusk quick rapid flicks - big gestures will cause you to lose and there's no correspondence between how your flicking to the move itself anyhow
Some levels have so many environmental hazards that they'll likely cause you more damage than your opponet
Some of the special moves with cutscenes are too long and not skipable

Havn't tried online yet.

All in all I agree with 7.5/10 It's a decent, fun fighter but not in Tekken or Street Fighter's league or really innovative in anyway. But if the online is better than DBZ:TB3 - which had totally broken online, then it's best in class on Wii and worth getting.

This is similar to the Clash of Ninja Series using the WiiMote, so once you get used there's no much problem at all. But if you have problems you can use the Gamecube or Classic Controller.

Two questions:

Are Japanese voices available? On IGN on guy commented they are.

Are there secret characters? How many characters you saw? Because it must have at least 13 I think.

Yeah my son was playing it for 2 hours before I got home and still had no problem doing 30 minutes of combat with me and he didn't complain about it.   However extensive prolonged playing of CJ may result in arms like Popeye's.

Don't know about Japanese voices.  Didn't see them but didn't look either.

As of last night my son hadn't even unlocked all the known characters still have about 4 to go.  Looks like Dracula will be the last to be unlocked.  I havn't play Castlevania since Belmont was an 8 bit sprite so I don't know any of the characters anyway but if more pop up after Dracula I'll let you know.

Ok, thanks, the voices, if available, are easy to find in Options, that's what I read.

Let me know if you find more characters besides the ones that appear on the trailer.
