It will be very, very close by (Jan). Personally I think the edge will go to PS3.

I have a feeling when NPD's #'s come in for Nov. the 360 will outsell the PS3 by 3/1 ratio in America and win Europe by slight #'s. So there is a very good chance that it can take a slight advantage in sales for the year.

Double the numbers = 740-380 = 360k

Double again = 1480-760 = 720k difference.

So as the sales increase, the relative difference in absolute terms would tend to escalate if the patterns from October are followed.

I see your logic.  Agree with it to some extent.  But, as you know, things are never this simple.

Even 1.5-1 ratios would give the 360 a significant gain over the PS3.

Yes, and by about 200,000 units. It won't win in Q4, but for the entire year it most definitely will.

If WW numbers are close or a draw, The American numbers could give the 360 the world wide win before the end of the year if the ratio from this year and last year holds true. I would suggest its better for the 360 this year than last year in Americas so its definately a possibility.

This is a hard one. There really isn't any more software thats coming out in NA and Others to push either system significantly, so it'll depend on how the 360 holds in Others. NA is a given, and I think the 360 can expect to close the gap here by 600,000 to 700,000. If the 360 can't outsell the PS3 in Others, it's not gonna happen. It'll have to offset 400,000 there and whatever lead the PS3 will have in Japan (though I expect that number to be small, since sales are so low and closer now, as well as Japan having a larger sales spurt in the beginning of January).

Honestly, I don't see it happening. Even though the 360 is outselling the PS3 in Others right now, I have a hard time believing they can keep ahead in weekly sales.

360 Year to date: 6, 635, 025

PS3 Year to date: 7, 668, 130

New difference: 1, 033, 105
