Forums - Gaming Discussion - Left 4 Dead Public Demo Comes Out Today on 360 and PC!

Whenever I come across a Tank, my team and I typically try to run around him and get him from behind while he's going after another person.

It is better to run though. If you can, definitely set him on fire, otherwise, run and shoot. You'll almost certainly end up with a man down and probably dead if you try to outmaneuver it.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

I know i'm gonna be doing Man vs Tank and Tankbusters on Easy because I honestly don't see how you can pull it off on anything above Normal. Just too much health.

Except you probably won't run into as many Tanks on easy. Maybe none? I dunno. I've gone through a whole Advanced demo without any Tanks a couple times.

Time to Work !

i was playing on advanced with my brother earlier and it really felt like a hard playthrough. he wasn't that good, granted, but it just seemed pretty crazy. apart from an absurd number of boomers everywhere, there was a witch that we narrowly avoided. on the staircase leading up to the last room (the generator room) a tank came up the stairs after us. despite my best efforts shut the door, the 2 cpu players were just clueless and got stuck and died. i molotov'd the tank but my brother accidentally stepped into the flames. he died, the tank made short work of me despite my our team's best efforts. a heroic effort but it still fell short.

what i really like about this game is how fast you can go from being confident that you're doing to ok to scrambling with your last bit of health.

Demo was awesome.

It's just that simple.

I just had a run on Expert with no Tank, it's the only reason we succeeded. Although we did kill a Witch on our way through, someone alerted her then left the game >_<

Tanks on Expert are insane, I've never seen one get stuck. They have just ripped through the terrain or thrown rocks, either way this game is spectacular.

I've had no tanks in game difficulties between normal and Expert. I've also had tanks on the same difficulties, but I can't say anything about easy.

First reaction to L4D was awesomeness...but now after the 2 hours of playing the demo it got quite repetitvie. I sure hope that they provide some variety in gameplay...

It's a pretty straightforward game.

Story-wise, everything is supposedly told through messages left on walls in the safe rooms between levels, and various clues scattered through the game, somewhat like Portal.

But no leveling up (good or bad, depending on POV), means the game can't consistently keep turning up the wick on the action unless better weapons are continually introduced.

While the game has dynamic difficulty adjustment with variations depending upon each new instance, it's not the same as making the game deeper as it progresses.

Could be more variety to enemies as well considering how many times most are encountered. Smoker, Boomer, Hunter, Witch, Tank and basic infected cannon fodder were everything shown in the demo.

At 20 levels of this, it should be interesting to see how the whole game pans out.
