It's not a generic JRPG though, it's a SRPG and a very unique one at that. Lots of people who swear they flat out hate SRPGs have enjoyed valkyria

But saying: "It's the best RPG of any genre this generation" -WRONG.

The truth: It's the best RPG on the PS3.

Have you ever lived the experience Mass Effect?
Have you ever build your character in Fable 2?
Have you ever played Fallout 3?
Have you ever traveled in Lost Odyssey?

If you only own a PS3, ok, Valkyria Chronicles is the only choice for you.
But for multi-console owners like myself, this generation is already full of awesome RPG.

I've played Fallout 3 and definitely think VC is better. I can't comment on the other three though.

Normally when I ask my JRPG freak friends on my MSn is that JRPG good they are all like 'give it a try' but so far they all say 'GET VALKYRIA CHRONICLES NOW' must be really good;... Anyway I am going to buy it for sure but that was because it is a game from Sega =p;

no discredit to any of those games, but Valkyria is better imo it's better than any RPG I've played in the last 10 years since shining force 3 :p

I'ts weird. It's out some places in Canada but not at others. When it finally gets to my store, I'm buying it. I've been waiting for this game forever it seems.
