I don't hate 1up, I will say that they do seem very fanboyish. I also don't hate metacritic, it shows me a games reviews all in one site. Oh and I fixed that to u. I don't see many PS3 fans having the amount of 90% + games in their sig or making threads about so and so console having so and so AAA games by the end of the year.

Ya but recently we been getting a lot of 1up resistance and variety threads. Also look at Leo-J if you want to see someone with scores in the sig.

I can understand what you mean, it is getting out of hand with some users.

I think I read something in a 1UP article today about the Metacritic scores and they themselves wrote something on the lines of "Fable II was rated an A and somehow Metacritic rated it a 100".

Wouldn't that imply that it is indeed NOT a 100 if it is rated an A? If it is a 100 then what the hell is the point of A+ from 1UP?

I feel they are a joke because if they know what score they are giving a game, why not just post it in the article?

Also not being a fanboy either but I hardly think R2 is just an average game considering how it does what no other in it's respective genre does in terms of it's online gaming for both team deathmatch and co-op play.

I just feel for a review score to be believable, more than just Metacritic should know the score.

Here is a translation of 1UP scores to metacritic scores.  The way the translate letter grade scores results in the lowest metacritic ratings for many games that get a B or belower.

yea u are right, alot of people were saying alot of hateful things about 1 up when that B+ came out, like if B+ is a bad grade. I haven't seen Leo-J's sig (or havent payed attention to it) so I can't comment on that. It's not just getting out of hand with some users in VGC, its getting out of hand period. In many other forums I frequent, users are like this, and now, some of my RL friends are starting to become "rating whores" and checking metacritic for each and every game and they don't even go to forums/blogs.

I know exactly what the breakdown is for their scoring system, but tell me, does it make any sense what so ever that there is no difference between an A and an A+?

I personally think Gamerankings does a much better job on the lettering system.

With Metacritic you would figure each letter would represent around 8 points on the scale, but due to the laziness with the A and A+ you have scores where a B+ would be in the low 80's, no score in the high 80's, then you go into mid to high 70's, then dip down almost 10 points to a 67 and then dip another 12 points on the next letter grade to a 55. All this to make up for laziness with the A and A+ scores.

1up has some pretty huge Sony fanboys over there, though. I wouldn't be too hard on them. Shane, for example, is one of the biggest Sony apologists I've ever seen. I think he might actually run Sony Defense Force. LOL

1up gave R:FOM an A- yet it is near the B+ section. Atleast they translated R2's B+ to a 85.

In Metacritics case this happens with each and every A score. Being rated higher than it should.
