Hugh Jackman would be a good choice too
Snake is Kurt Russel so Big Boss or Old Snake has to be Kurt Russel.
Christian Bale is a great actor but his already John Connor and Batman
Thomas Jane could certanily pull it off. He did a great job as Frank Castle. Since he is lesser known, I think that would make him a great choice. There will be a less preconceptions about him going into the film from movie goers.
Hugh Jackman doesn't seem to be a bad choice, like Bale he tied to another character. Snake should be someone with out a major character already tied to him.

Yes. I dunno exactly why, I don't like his face, I think I didn't like one of his movies (I think it was Die Hard 3), and it accumulated in hating. Just like I don't like Schwarzenegger, Tom Hanks, Nicholas Cage, etc.
